🔥 What would happen if Amazon starts accepting Bitcoin?

Hello!

I am doing an Amazon course for my job. The goal is to increase the profit of our sales and I am learning how the Advertising platform of Amazon works, their campaigns, etc.

I was wondering what would be the impact of a large marketplace like Amazon adding Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as a direct method of payment. The impact it would have on the price would be huge. A snowball effect would be produced that would attract more and more people to become interested in Bitcoin.

I am aware that it may not be the most convenient way to make micro-payments, but I am sure that many people would be attracted to learn more. Moreover, Bitcoin can evolve and process payments more quickly with upgrades in the code or some kind of integration with third parties, so I don't see it as crazy.

I am aware that you can process the payment with Debit Cards that allow crypto-payments but I would love to see it integrated directly in the Amazon's checkout process.

# Is it matter of time?

Time is on our side, this technology is too innovative for the average Joe, but at some point it will be known and used for a large number of people. And we will reach a point of no-return, where it will be very difficult for someone who starts using it to stop.

Actually there are a lot of incentives to use cryptocurrency, and it is hard for me to imagine all of them disappearing. I am very optimistic about the future of DeFi, and all the new applications that can empower individuals through DeFi.

We just need a couple of large marketplaces to integrate cryptocurrency as a method of payment and the rest will follow. I am sure that if there is any potential profit that a company can make, they will do it without hesitating. The problem is that nowadays there are a lot of barriers for a little benefit.

If I have to bet, I will bet that at some point they will accept it. This will be a historical day for Bitcoin and all the crypto community. Each day we're getting closer and closer to mass adoption. It will take time, but from my point of view is inevitable.

It doesn't matter if Amazon accepts Bitcoin, nobody will spend it because:

1/ people have to pay capital gain tax on each BTC>USD transaction, which sucks
2/ people would rather hold their BTC than spend it and be the next 10k Bitcoin Pizza guy

They might be able to meet the market halfway, offering gift card purchases with Bitcoin. This way, they don't have to worry about volatility on their books. At their scale, they could sell BTC to institutions OTC.
