When They See Us is an intense dose of raw depression and grief. If you are sad or on the threshold of depression, do not watch this series at all, it will inflame all the feelings of anger towards oppression and injustice in all forms and forms. Because you cannot change anything in this abominable world, you will fall into a whirl of melancholy, crying until your eyes burn you.

The series is actually very strong compared to the very few episodes (only 4 episodes), so it is a light, but painful snack that you can eat among other large meals with multiple seasons and sprawling episodes.

## When They See Us Story

When They See Us takes place in the 1980s. The United States was in a state of partial rejection of black-skinned people. Yes, they are recognized in business, civil, judicial, political, inheritance and everything, but within the American people there has been an intangible ostracism. Therefore, society is waiting for any mistake or problem involving a black person, and the law intervenes with violence to turn it into a public opinion issue that makes them in the eyes of the community people who need psychological rehabilitation in prisons to atone for their sins. Hence our story started ..

One day, five young men go to the public park at night to hang out, but they find a crowd of young people bullying a white-skinned woman who was running in her normal night time. She was violently assaulted by others, then let her bleed heavily and was in a tragic state. Suddenly, the police come to arrest everyone with their hands. Indeed, a group of young people was taken for questioning, all under the age of one except one, and they did not commit any offense at all. But instead of logic being used to judge them, his tendency to ostracize the dark-skinned has emerged to make personal passions dominate the rule of logic.

During When They See Us, we trace the struggle of these young people in this unjust world, and try to follow their lives from the moment they go cheerfully to that park, and until the final story where there is a finale of the finest.

## What is special about When They See Us?

1 - not to fear anything

Nowadays, America is living in a glorious era of freedom (on the media level). But this series is not hidden, it is an American production that shows the shortcomings of American society in a period of time. He was also exposed to media and political faces, and did not hesitate to show its truth and flipping in its past as well. All this in order to deliver a more credible picture to the viewer of the dimensions of this difficult era. That is why when they see Us is very bold.

2- Acceleration!

The story may seem slow at first sight. Well, Lord, those plots are always long ropes and loops and loops are burned in order to reach the end. But here it is different, events are very fast. What gave the feeling of this acceleration was the Cuts adopted by the director. She showed a minute-long scene for one character, one minute for another, and then you began to reduce the time periods for each character to appear on the screen, eventually finding yourself with a series of short-term frames with a powerful and fearful effect. Imagine you're watching a 3-minute clip, and every 10 seconds, you're dealing with a new scene with a certain character saying something new under dread and fear crying with a heartburn? It's really astringent, so when They See Us is special.

## The acting
When we talk about acting in the series When They See Us We must talk about the representation of children. Their representation is simply good, not excellent or bad, but good. In the end, you do not expect a genius performance from children placed under arbitrary law. Sadness and crying is all you can expect. In the end, the directive style did not even allow the actors to be highlighted. The actor's ability appears with nearby scenes.

## Directing

When They See Us, directed by Ava DuVernay, is a director who does not have many previous directing works. She has been working in advertising and film consultancy more. The most notable work she has worked on is A Wrinkle in Time, released in 2018 and rated 4.2 / 10 on IMDb.

The output is average, in fact, I have not found excellent angles or scenes that fit the suffering of the children. Well, but it was quick, and that's good for the plot. But I wanted to see one internal monologue for even one character, that really bothered me. But the closing scene of the second episode made me forget this a bit.

## My opinion and my assessment of the work

When a child's character is presented, the viewer is therefore left in front of an unpredictable act. The reactions can change in a moment, and the child can do anything wrong under the name of desire or fear of another old person.

This leaves the viewer in a state of confusion and obsession, which keeps him in front of the screen to know what is coming. That makes sense building, because whatever action happens in front of them, the reaction will be spontaneous in proportion to the original verb.

Here you do not need a history and history to expect feedback accordingly, you just need to fear while implementing the situation to ensure a consistent outcome.
