Use Reasonable Force To Strike and Defense
When you fight for self defense, you are not trying to prove that you are the man. Martial art is only for self defense. You have no right to go and hurt innocent people, no one does.

If you do something to hurt others without any reason, today or tomorrow, you have to pay for it. You need to understand the situation first, otherwise, you are the one who can make the mistake.

If someone does not mean to hurt you, just mess around, you should not hurt him pretty bad. Sometimes if you just let him or them know that they are dealing with the wrong guy, that's enough. 

Martial art is to stop the violence, not to create more. When you practice a martial art, you learn different strikes. All strikes will not make the same damage. So always use reasonable force to strike when you fight. If you do not need to hurt the attacker bad, just strike him not to proceed.

Some martial arts focus on grabbing, locking, and throwing. Since every situation is different, sometimes you can use your grabbing techniques and the attacker will feel the pain, that would be enough for him. Or, you can grab and move him away from there. You can call the law enforcement agency and let them handle the situation. 

People practice Tai Chi. Some people ask questions about how effective Tai Chi is for self defense. It can be useful for self defense and you can apply it based on the situation. You can redirect your opponent's energy and force or use it against him. You can throw the attacker on the ground. Sometimes that will do the job. 

So how to win in a fight? Well, when you fight and all you want is to defend yourself, you do not think like you have to stay there and keep fighting till you become the winner. You strike your opponent when he is in pain, you have the time to get out of there. You can use that time and leave the place.

When you see someone might do something to hurt you, you can use your surroundings. You can draw other people's attention so that the attacker will change his mind. Or, there is less chance that someone will attack you in a crowded place. 

When we talk about self defense and security, it is not always about fighting, it is way more than that. Fighting can be the ultimate stage. Before moving to that, you have a lot of things to do. You can talk to the person, maybe it is a misunderstanding. 

Sometimes you are being attacked out of nowhere, you have no option to fight back instantly, that also happens. Always try to understand the situation and use reasonable force to strike and defense.
