When you fight to protect yourself. your safety always comes first. Before making your move, ensure your safety. Conditioning your body is important. Maybe you are into breaking. You can break hard objects easily.

If you practice that, you can do this. We see different breaking demonstrations where what we see surprises us. Even if you can break something with your hands, still you do not want to break a stick while someone is attacking you.

You might see in movies that the hero breaks sticks and shows his power. That's for the movies and entertainment. Cool! But when the attacker is going to attack you with a stick, you want to defend yourself the safest way possible.

If you are being attacked with a short stick, it is always better to get in and defend that. You can move back as a defense, but you can be sure that the attack will attack you again. Don't waste your time to get in and defend yourself.

How about if the attacker will attack you with a long stick? It takes time to move forward and get close to the attacker. So you can move to the side or move back as a defense, but the quicker you stop the attacker the better. How long are you going to move back and forth to save yourself? Hope you get the point.

So moving both hands straight up as a defense against stick attack might look good. The thing is, there is a high chance you will break your hands. And guess what? The attacker will not stop when he breaks your hands.

As a defense, you can move to the side if you do not get the time to get in. Again instead of moving your hands straight up, you can move your hand up at a 45-degree angle. You can redirect the stick and move it to the side. In the situation, the sooner you can get in and counterattack, the better.
