After being out of luck for some time I feel like I'm starting to recover from that. This season playing Splinterlands also started to feel like a habit, doing the daily quests, even when busy, not many tournaments but just enjoying it when the time is there.

Even though work and private life got much busier (end of covid restrictions are near, yay \o/) doing just the occasional battle and taking a bit of time at the start or end of the day to finish the quest is really pretty manageable and enjoyable. How that worked out for my gains? Let's find out, maybe it felt better than it actually is like the other way around from last seasons, where I actually made steady progress albeit it feeling slow.

Ahhh a 1.30 ranked ratio. That's pretty sweet. No tournaments at all I see. This is because I've been playing mostly on mobile and to be honest, that suits me really well. After a long day just doing a few battles on my phone is much more relaxed than crawling behind the computer yet again.

Rating and rank in Gold were also way better. Too bad I don't have the power for Gold II league yet. Decided to try and finish in gold I for the foreseeable future. I'd have to rent a whole lot of cards to get to 150k+ power. So my strategy is to build my own set from here while staying above 100k power by renting. My approach is to now rent for the max of 180 days so I don't have to keep renewing my contracts. I figured it's pretty time-consuming at the moment and like I said. Less time behind my pc is a huge plus right for me personally at the moment.

After seeing reports from @legendarycanary I decided to try and rent from him whenever the card I wanted was available. As his account is dedicated to renting out, I have less worry the contract will be broken halfway through (hate it when I find out just after starting a battle) and the terms are always good so I don't have to double check those. In other words: more time saved :-)

Malric still int he top spot but Lyanna and Tyrus are gaining ground, I expect Lyanna to take the top spot next season as I rented a lvl 4 this time. Either way both of them have a 60%+ win rate so great to see that and will use both a lot.

Many fire cards again of course, but notice the win rate on flesh golem and wood nymph? Those will probably take 1st spot next time, using them a lot these days. Still have to find my playstyle in Gold league but so far this has worked out pretty well.

Further down the list we also see some really high percentage win rates but these cards don't find every mana pool/ruleset. Flesh golem and wood nymph are relatively cheap and as long as heal works they're really valuable.

Earthquake and keep your distance are terrible and I think I know why. I always try to make my cards fit the rules but make the mistake of forgetting team synergies and come up with a random bunch in the end. So for earthquake, this means I just pick random birdies (mostly use Life splinter here) and for close range I try using war chaang and get two attacks out of him while he's actually not the best tank. Bad habits I guess, something to work on!

And now we'll find out, did the perceived return of luck actually make a difference in the progress I made this season?

Damn right it did! More than double the total reward (measured in dec) of last season for a total of 10k+ :-)

Things that stood out:
- 1 epic
- 2 gold foil  *\o/*
- 2 packs

Also got way more dec from ranked matches even though I played only slightly more. Main reason is the early progression to gold league I think. Will try and get more time in gold each season to further increase these dec gains.

Fun little experiment, I think I'll keep adding to this list to really see the progress of the collection over many seasons. Right now it looks like I add roughly 2k power and $6-7 per season. Gonna be exciting to see if I can keep that pace going!

Really stoked to see some better progress even though I'm shorter on time. I think my new renting strategy and consistency with the quests are key here. As long as you keep hitting some gold and epic cards along the way the collection will grow over time.
