**Uncut Gems is one of the most fascinating films of the last few years and I feel like the main reason for this is because of how it decides to approach its own pace and style to generate in us as viewers very unconventional feelings.**

Directed by the Safdie Brothers (Josh and Benny) and produced by A24, in Uncut Gems we follow the story of Howard Ratner, a gambling addict who runs a jewelry store in New York's diamond district, throughout the film we see everyone the problems he gets into as a result of his addiction, which are aggravated when he receives an African stone with strange properties that's worth a lot of money.

In essence, Uncut Gems is a film that uses anxiety and despair as a motor, not only to move its characters in search of adrenaline, but to move our viewing through it.

Adam Sandler. who plays Howard in what would become one of the best roles of his career (both aesthetically and substantially) gives us a window into his crazy world of excesses and degeneration, where we feel disturbed by his vices and addictions but we can't stop seeing him either.

This feeling of discomfort and magnetism that works simultaneously (and is enhanced by an ost and a great soundtrack, as well as a beautiful direction and photography) are perhaps the greatest achievement of Uncut Gems.

Each dialogue overlaps, each conflict accumulates and the resolutions are far from satisfactory, all this ironically ends up resulting in an attractive film, which makes us feel drowned but culminates in catharsis - even if it was disastrous -.

Sandler is joined by other actors such as Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Idina Mendel and the surprise of the play: former Celtics basketball player Kevin Garnett, who drives much of the plot by playing a fictional version of himself. in New York in 2010.

Another prominent appearance is that of The Weeknd, who also regresses a bit in his own career and plays himself during that small period for what we could classify as an extensive cameo.

Those who find Abel's presence in the film attractive will enjoy a good portion of the soundtrack, which denotes extensive knowledge and love for hip hop culture, we have songs from The Weeknd himself, Meek Mill and Kendrick Lamar.

This music as well as the general aesthetics of the film contribute to form an extremely interesting visual cocktail, which makes it a piece of film that achieves timelessness and being anchored to a very specific period of time very simultaneously.

Generally speaking, even if you're not interested in the premise, there are a lot of artistic aspects that make Uncut Gems worthwhile.

**For me, it is a mixture of many, many factors that can be confusing or frustrating, but together they deliver one of the most memorable films of the last decade.**

**Absolutely recommended.**

**Uncut Gems es una de las películas más fascinantes de los últimos año y siento que la razón principal de esto es por cómo decide abordar su propio ritmo y estilo para generar en nosotros como espectadores sentimientos muy fuera de lo convencional.**

Dirigida por los Safdie Brothers (Josh y Benny) y producida por A24, en Uncut Gems seguimos la historia de Howard Ratner, un adicto al juego que dirige una joyería en el distrito del diamante en New York, a lo largo del filme vemos en todos los problemas en que se mete como consecuencia de su adiccion, los cuales se agravan cuando recibe una piedra africana  con propiedades extrañas que vale una cantidad absurda de dinero.

En esencia, Uncut Gems es una película que usa la ansiedad y la desesperación como motor, no solo para mover sus personajes en búsqueda de adrenalina, sino para mover nuestro visionado a través de ella. 

Adam Sandler. quien interpreta a Howard en lo que vendría siendo uno de los mejores papeles de su carrera (Tanto desde lo estético como desde lo sustancial) nos da una ventana a su alocado mundo de excesos y degeneración, en donde nos sentimos perturbados por sus vicios y adicciones pero tampoco podemos dejar de verle.

Esta sensación de incomodidad y magnetismo que funciona de forma simultánea (Y se realza con un ost y un soundtrack genial, asi como una hermosa dirección y fotografía) son quizá el mayor logro de Uncut Gems. 

Cada diálogo se solapa, cada conflicto se acumula y las resoluciones distan de ser satisfactorias, todo esto irónicamente termina resultando en una película atractiva, que nos hace sentir ahogados pero culmina en catarsis - aunque fuese desastrosa -.

A Sandler se le suman otros actores como Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Idina Mendel y la sorpresa de la obra: el ex-jugador de basket de los Celtics Kevin Garnett, quien impulsa buena parte de la trama interpretando a una versión ficticia de su mismo en la New York del 2010.

Otra aparición prominente es la de The Weeknd, quien también regresiona un poco en su propia carrera y se interpreta a sí mismo durante ese periodo pequeño para algo que podríamos catalogar como un extenso cameo.

Aquellos que consideren atractiva la presencia de Abel en el filme disfrutarán una buena porción del soundtrack, el cual denota un extenso conocimiento y amor por la cultura del hip hop, tenemos temas del propio The Weeknd, Meek Mill y Kendrick Lamar.

Esta música al igual que la estética general del filme contribuyen en formar un cóctel visual interesantísimo, que lo convierte en una pieza de cine que logra la atemporalidad y el estar anclado a un periodo de tiempo muy específico de forma muy simultánea.

En términos generales, incluso si no sienten interés por la premisa, existen muchísimos aspectos artísticos que hacen que Uncut Gems merezca la pena 

**Para mi, es una mezcla de muchísimos factores que pueden resultar confusos o frustrantes, pero juntos nos entregan una de las cintas más memorables de la última década.** 

**Absolutamente recomendada.**
