Rich if you need to do some walking and get some feedback you should check out a fitbit.   I have had one for three months and like it.   It helps me make sure to walk and exercise more.

My grandfather, a heavy smoker, died age 90. He was run over by a truck riding his bicycle. I am a heavy smoker myself and have difficulties breathing. But wait. My x-rays show water in my lungs, caused by a chronic infection but no damage from tar or smoking. 
I could be wrong, but I believe that most of the breathing problems are caused by the SHIT THEY SPRAY on us for a decade now and smoking is used by the cabal as a culprit. Something to blame and a great excuse to make more money. Just observe how many non-smokers are coughing today.
But even IF I am wrong, I'd rather kill MYSELF by smoking than being killed by the parasites who poison us every day.

I'm so sorry, dear Rich! :(  You have to take care of yourself and stop to smoke (I smoke cigarettes too, so I perfectly know it's not simple, but you have to do it). I'm a smoker, so you can think "Why a smoker say I have to quit smoke???", but you're really a friend for me and so I say this because I experienced a similar thing with my dad.
My father had some pulmonary problems  and he had to quit smoke (he had an enphisema, so he had no choice), the first month was really difficult, but after some months he was better with the breath and now, after 5 years, he continued his life like before (but without cigarettes ^_^). A big hug, dear friend, stay strong!

Hey Rich sorry to hear that, I wish you a fast recovery hopefully the visits wont take too much of your time and lol but glad to see you've still got your sense of humour I know you dont want to stop smoking nor is it easy but maybe give it a try.

Sadly, while I vehemently argue about smoking and lung cancer, I don't regarding COPD, or other health impacts of smoking.  

I note that presently, we all die of something, and that, or how, we die isn't of much import.  What is important is how we live before we die, and that is why I don't worry much about the negative health impact of smoking.  I like it, and there are few enough things I am able to enjoy while I live.  I'll stick with it until I am faced with your circumstance, I reckon.

I'll cross that Rubicon after I burn the bridge.  This is the essence of life: it is temporary.
