Yeah, it's funny and such comments irritate anyone, anywhere, and on Facebook, both here and in instagram. But be a novice in Steemit. Posts author with a reputation 25 nobody sees, they are simply hidden as a low quality. Although in reality such fresh posts can be really mega cool and interesting. And in order to get the eye of the community members, new users are forced to leave such comments. Vote and follow. Although it can be and they themselves hate - to ask for attention. And by the way, Yes, for that matter, look at my post, it was cool)))))))

Honestly as a new user it can be very tempting, given how well it works for some of those spammers. However, seeing how people around here are invested in trying to make steemit the best social media is definitely encouraging, and I assume that at some point those spammers get flagged.

I totally agree! I started that way for like a day! and was like Well, if they truly dont check their feed and are just here to make a quick buck then why would i want them to follow me anyways? I want followers who actually find and like my stuff!

You  miss one more thing that i resteem your post now you have to resteem my. I got this offer too but i told him to unresteem my post because if you vote for me fine if i like your post fine but you did my therefor i must have to do your is not good. Everyone have their own rights that they can do what they want. Sometimes i did for supports friends.

Yeah those follow4follow people are getting annoying and worse than that is there is a little rat bastard named @crypto-p who will go and tell people he followed them and a lot of times people follow him back because they don't check if he really followed them.   Most people aren't going to verify if he really did it.  So now he has racked up a big following and he never upvotes their content.  He just writes the comment.  Upvotes the comment and lies to the user.  It is sad.

Absolutely!  I had a commenter who wrote that they upvoted and followed me but did NOT actually do it, plus provided a link to their blog.

LOL! Never have never will. I upvote for good content and often those that take the time to truly engage. I NEVER expect the same. But I truly detest seeing anyone post follow 4 follow in the comments section or a cheap ck out my link. I have worked promoting and marketing I can smell a cheap opportunist.

Even as a minnow (god it even feels weird to use the labels being the new user that I am) But even I get that it's all about the content. There's no use in following for following sake. 

There is nothing to gain from having followers (as opposed to Oldworld Social Media / youtube, Instagram etc. which pay according to number of followers / viewers)

The gain is in posting good content which people will upvote.

Provide good and valuable content, and you will slowly grow from a minnow.  I refuse to use any of the tricks either.  If Steemit sees no value in my content, then there's nothing I can do to change that fact.  It is strange to me what is considered valuable here though.  I've seen people literally post just a list of web links and get over $200 for it.  Then someone posts a well written article with valuable content, and it doesn't even get seen.  How is that even possible?  It's mind boggling and strange to me.
