## Semanas difíciles | Difficult weeks

No sé exactamente cuánto ha pasado desde mi último post relacionado, pero seguro han trascurrido alrededor de dos semanas; dos semanas infernales sin servicio de electricidad y de agua en la zona donde vivo, algo desgraciadamente usual en este país cuyo nombre no mencionaré.
Básicamente debido a este pequeño incidente perdí por un momento las ganas de escribir y decidí tomarme un pequeño descanso para recuperar los ánimos y la creatividad, todo ese estrés y frustración por no tener electricidad y agua durante casi dos semanas me afectó, ahora ya se lo que se siente vivir en el siglo XV.

I don't know exactly how long it's been since my last related post, but I'm sure it's been about two weeks; two hellish weeks without electricity and water service in the area where I live, something unfortunately usual in this country whose name I won't mention.
Basically due to this little incident I lost for a moment the desire to write and decided to take a little break to recover my spirits and creativity, all that stress and frustration for not having electricity and water for almost two weeks affected me, now I know what it feels like to live in the XV.

Afortunadamente esta pesadilla terminó y me siento mucho mejor y con ánimos de seguir haciendo contenido, aunque estos últimos días han sido rudos espero volver a retomar el ritmo ya que disfruto de escribir.
Quiero agradecer el apoyo que he tenido estos últimos meses, de verdad ha sido muy bonito. En fin no quiero extenderme más y vamos con lo que nos atañe el día de hoy.

Vamos a repasar muy brevemente los dos últimos post para poder actualizarnos mejor.
En los capítulos anteriores, concretamente en el primero hablamos sobre los antecedentes que llevaron a los ejércitos a enfrentarse en esta instancia, sus respectivas formaciones y como se distribuyeron en el campo de batalla, las unidades con las que cada uno contaba y sus números.

Sabemos o por lo menos podemos intuir que eran ejércitos bastante parejos y que la batalla no estaba decantada por nadie aún.
Sabemos que el ejército defensor estaba compuesto por la Flota de Hierro de Euron Greyjoy, el ejército Lannister y la Compañía Dorada de Essos.
Por el lado del ejercito atacante estaban los restos conjuntos de las huestes que lucharon contra el Rey Nocturno en Winterfell; compuestos por los ejércitos de las casas del Norte, los soldados de Vale de la casa Arryn, los Inmaculados de Daenerys así como la caballería Dothraki.
En el segundo capítulo hablamos netamente de la batalla y lo que ocurrió en la misma, vimos cómo cada quien ejecutó (o al menos intentó) la estrategia que tenían planeadas ambos bandos respectivamente y por supuesto vimos que bando se alzó con la victoria, también señalamos varios errores tácticos y algunas incongruencias.

In the second chapter we talked about the battle and what happened in it, we saw how each one executed (or at least tried) the strategy that both sides had planned respectively and of course we saw which side was victorious, we also pointed out several tactical errors and some inconsistencies.
Having said all this, you may have wondered if there was a chance for the Lannisters to win the match, what would have happened if the dragon fell, the Stark - Targaryen army could have won without Drogon or maybe what I would have done to develop the combat, in this post I will tell you about it.

## Que hubiera hecho yo | What I would have done

Aquí dividiré en la batalla en dos partes, primero hablaré de lo que hubiera hecho yo como invasor de la ciudad y de qué manera hubiera planificado mi asalto.
Luego hablaré de lo que hubiera hecho para defenderme de las tropas invasoras, dicho esto sin más les explico;

La verdad es que el ejército invasor llevaba las de ganar con diferencia, no tanto por sus números o la calidad de sus tropas, es el dragón donde reside la mayor fuerza y ventaja de los atacantes.
Si yo hubiera sido el atacante de la ciudad, en primera instancia hubiera formado mis tropas en las afueras de la ciudad tal y como vemos en la serie, aunque unos cuantos metros más alejado de la muralla.
Ya sabemos que las murallas exteriores están fuertemente defendidas, sin embargo, dentro de la ciudad todos son blancos potenciales para el dragón, La Fortaleza Roja tampoco está defendida contra esta bestia. Salvo por la Flota de Hierro, toda la ciudad está atrapada a merced de Drogon, lo que yo hubiera hecho de ser Daenerys hubiera sido algo muy parecido a lo que logró con la flota, solo que en lugar de arriesgarme a que mi dragón sea derribado atacando directamente a los barcos de Euron, hubiera atacado directamente a la Fortaleza roja apareciendo desde el aire y haciéndola arder.

La fortaleza esta defendida pero no contra el dragón, todas las balistas están en las murallas, el dragón no tiene por qué pasar volando al alcance de esos proyectiles, ya vimos que puede alcanzar grandes alturas fuera del alcance de las balistas.
Con este movimiento no solo hubiéramos cortado la cabeza de la serpiente de raíz matando a Cersei y a sus posibles generales y gente confianza, también tendríamos libertad de arrasar con las calles ocupadas por los soldados Lannister que se encuentran apelotonados, con esto ya los defensores habrían perdido, no hay reina ni generales ni ejército Lannister, la Compañía Dorada son mercenarios llegaron pagados por Cersei, con ella muerta no tienen motivos para morir luchando una batalla que muy posiblemente pierdan en número.
Euron Greyjoy y la Flota de Hierro estaban aliados con los Lannister bajo promesa de reinado, con ella muerta todo eso se termina, lo más probable es que la Flota de Hierro al ver que la Fortaleza Roja cae, se repliegue y si tienen tan mala organización y puntería como lo demostraron en la serie entonces darles caza con Drogon será un juego de niños (que de hecho así fue).

Con el ejército Lannister destruido y Cersei muerta, solo queda la Compañía Dorada en el exterior de la muralla acorralados entre la misma muralla y los invasores, las defensas de las muralla no sería un problema porque como vimos apenas tienen arqueros para defenderlas y su mayor poder reside en las balistas anti dragón. Si deciden usarlas para enfrentar a la infantería estaría desperdiciando munición ya que solo podrán asesinar a un soldado por disparo y no solo eso, deberán escoger entre gastar munición con la infantería o esperar la llegada del dragón a la muralla para atacarlo, esto dejaría a la Compañía Dorada prácticamente en un duelo individual contra una fuerza que los triplica en número, apoyados por algunos pocos arqueros. Solo podrán escoger entre rendirse y morir.

The truth is that the invading army had the upper hand by far, not so much for their numbers or the quality of their troops, it is the dragon where lies the greatest strength and advantage of the attackers.
If I had been the attacker of the city, in the first instance I would have formed my troops on the outskirts of the city as we see in the series, although a few meters further away from the wall.
We already know that the outer walls are heavily defended, however, inside the city all are potential targets for the dragon, The Red Keep is also not defended against this beast. #### Defendiendo la ciudad | Defending the city

Sin duda defender la ciudad de Kings Landing bajo estas circunstancias era algo bastante complicado, el principal problema por su puesto es el dragón, tratar de derribarlo es fundamental para una verdadera defensa.
¿Qué hubiera hecho yo si hubiese tenido que defender Kings Landing de Daenerys y su ejército? Bueno su poniendo que todo transcurre como en la serie mi única oportunidad de haber ganado esta batalla hubiera sido en la costa con la Flota de Hierro.

Como bien sabemos Daenerys ataca directamente a la flota y la hunde por completo, lo que yo hubiera hecho para evitar este problema seria los siguiente;
Separar más los barcos entre sí en varias direcciones, el dragón debe volar bajo para escupir fuego eficientemente en la serie los barcos están muy juntos entre sí lo cual le facilita el trabajo a Drogon a la hora de hundirlos, con los barcos más separados tenemos varias ventajas, concretamente tres ventajas importantes;
- Reducimos el número de barcos hundidos porque el dragón solo podrá destruir uno o dos cuando mucho cada que escupa fuego.
- Tenemos mejor campo de visión y podemos ver desde mucha más distancia y lugares por donde pasará volando
- Tenemos varias direcciones desde donde podremos disparar.
Obviamente nada de esto sirve si solo disparamos uno o dos proyectiles como en la serie, debemos disparan un mínimo de cinco o seis proyectiles por cada cinco o seis navíos.

Para evitar que el dragón se acerque demasiado a los barcos y disminuir aún más el número de naves que podría destruir aplicaría una antigua y muy conocida táctica de guerra que se conoce ahora como "fuego de cobertura" seguro has escuchado hablar de ello. Los arqueros mongoles de la antigüedad y los soldados de las guerras napoleónicas usaban esta táctica;
Consiste en que un grupo de soldados dispara y mientras recargas sus armas o tensan sus arcos, un segundo grupo dispara cubriendo la carga del primero y luego de que el segundo grupo dispara el primero ya está preparado para otra ronda de ataque ¿Que se consigue con esto? que básicamente los proyectiles no paran de llover sobre el enemigo.
Esto es lo que hubiera hecho yo para evitar que el dragón se acercase demasiado a la flota, una hondonada continua de disparos hasta derribarlo, son alrededor de cien barcos o mas significa que tenemos más de cien rondas de disparo continuo, y con los navíos dispersos en la costa los disparos vendrían en muchas direcciones distintas, el dragón no podrá maniobrar con facilidad para esquivarlos a todos, eventualmente algún dardo lo terminará alcanzado y matando.

En fin, es primordial derribar al dragón, la munición no es infinita, si las flechas se nos agotan y ninguna logra alcanzarlo o si el dragón destruye la suficiente cantidad de barcos (que sería lo más probable) o llega ileso a las murallas entonces la batalla perdida, no hay manera de ganarla.
Supongamos que el dragón toma por asalto la ciudad él solo como vimos en la serie, lo que yo hubiera hecho con antelación a la batalla para evitar esa masacre sería poner algunas balistas mirando hacia el interior de la ciudad y más importante aún, hubiera preparado o mandado a construir torreones en las calles de la ciudad para colocar más balistas escondidas dentro de Kings Landing o esconder algunas en los edificios más altos de manera que cuando el dragón pasara volando tenerlo a tiro sorpresivo.
Si no logramos matar al dragón ya sea cuando esta en la costa o atacando la ciudad la batalla entonces esta perdida, no hay manera de ganarla, no hay manera posible de defender King´s Landing mientras el dragón siga en el aire.
Así que ara efectos prácticos vamos a suponer que milagrosamente logramos derribar al dragón.
Si esto ocurre la batalla estaría parcialmente ganada, lo que tenemos que hacer es abrir las puertas de la ciudad y meter a la Compañía Dorada dentro de las murallas que nada tienen que estar haciendo afuera, y así fortificar las defensas principales sin perder soldados de manera innecesaria.
Y listo, no hay más nada que hacer, el ejército invasor no tiene asedio ni nada con lo que pueda penetrar en la ciudad, su única maquinaria de asedio era el fuego del dragón.

Con las tropas dentro de la ciudad lo único que hay que hacer es esperar a que el ejército invasor se canse, estamos a salvo en la muralla y tenemos acceso al mar, con la Flota de Hierro o con lo que quede de ella y la Flota Real de Kings Landing podemos traer suministros desde el exterior para mantener a las tropas alimentadas y soportar un largo asedio.
más pronto que tarde el ejército invasor deberá batirse en retirada porque no hay forma de que traspasen las murallas sin el dragón y durante la huida podríamos darles caza con el ejército Lannister que conoce bien el territorio y solo los que vayan a caballo como los Dotrhaki podrán sobrevivir la retirada y resistir a duras penas la caminata de regreso al Norte. De esta manera yo hubiera intentado repeler el ataque de Daenerys a la ciudad.

- We reduce the number of sunken ships because the dragon can only destroy one or two at most every time he spits fire.
- We have a better field of vision and we can see from much more distance and places where it will fly by.
- We have several directions from which we can shoot.
Obviously none of this is useful if we only fire one or two projectiles as in the series, we must fire a minimum of five or six shells for every five or six vessels.
To prevent the dragon from getting too close to the ships and further decrease the number of ships it could destroy I would apply an ancient and well known war tactic that is now known as "cover fire" sure you have heard of it. The Mongol archers of antiquity and the soldiers of the Napoleonic wars used this tactic;
It consists of a group of soldiers firing and while reloading their weapons or drawing their bows, a second group fires covering the charge of the first and after the second group fires the first is already prepared for another round of attack What is achieved with this? that basically the projectiles do not stop raining on the enemy.
This is what I would have done to prevent the dragon from getting too close to the fleet, a continuous barrage of shots until it is shot down, there are about a hundred ships or more and we have more than a hundred rounds of continuous firing, and with the ships scattered on the coast the shots would come from many different directions, the dragon cannot maneuver easily to dodge them all, eventually some dart will end up hitting and killing it.

Anyway, it is essential to shoot down the dragon, the ammunition is not infinite, if the arrows run out and none of them manage to reach it or if the dragon destroys enough ships (which would be the most likely) or arrives unharmed at the walls then the battle is lost, there is no way to win it.
Suppose that the dragon takes the city by assault alone as we saw in the series, what I would have done in advance of the battle to avoid that massacre would be to put some ballistas facing the interior of the city and more importantly, I would have prepared or ordered to build turrets in the streets of the city to place more ballistas hidden inside Kings Landing or hide some in the tallest buildings so that when the dragon flew past it would have a surprise shot.
If we fail to kill the dragon either when it is on the coast or attacking the city then the battle is lost, there is no way to win it, there is no possible way to defend King's Landing while the dragon is still in the air.

So for practical purposes let's assume that we miraculously manage to take down the dragon.
If this happens the battle would be partially won, what we have to do is to open the city gates and get the Golden Company inside the walls that have nothing to do outside, and thus fortify the main defenses without losing soldiers unnecessarily.

Sooner rather than later the invading army will have to beat a retreat because there is no way they can breach the walls without the dragon and during the escape we could hunt them down with the Lannister army who know the territory well and only those on horseback like the Dotrhaki can survive the retreat and barely withstand the trek back North. In this way I would have tried to repel Daenerys' attack on the city.

### Reflexiones de la batalla | Battle reflections

Este fue uno de los conflictos bélicos más épicos de la serie y la verdad uno de los más divertidos y vistosos pero lamentablemente dejó mucho que desear en mi opinión.
Game Of Thrones siempre se caracterizó por ser bastante coherente y realista dentro de su mismo universo, las cosas no pasaban solo porque sí, todo tenía un motivo, una causa y una consecuencia.
Desgraciadamente esta batalla, así como la batalla de Winterfell carecen de mucha consistencia y realismo, no tienen que ser exactamente históricas, pero si coherentes y comparándola con batallas excelentes como la Batalla de los Bastardos o la Batalla de Blackwaters deja mucho que desear.
Fuera de todo ello, me divertí mucho viendo este capítulo y amé esta serie con mucha locura, espero hayas disfrutado de esta lectura y de esta conclusión que ya llevaba tiempo queriendo cerrar. He estado muy ocupado estos días, pero trataré de seguir subiendo más contenido relacionado con tus libros y series favoritas, si te ha gustado este escrito dale algo de amor y sígueme para más contenido, hasta pronto viajero.

This was one of the most epic war conflicts of the series, and one of the most fun and eye-catching, but unfortunately it left much to be desired in my opinion.
Game Of Thrones was always characterized for being quite coherent and realistic within its own universe, things didn't happen just because, everything had a reason, a cause and a consequence.
Unfortunately, this battle as well as the battle of Winterfell lack a lot of consistency and realism, they don't have to be exactly historical, but coherent and comparing it with excellent battles like the Battle of the Bastards or the Battle of Blackwater’s leaves much to be desired.
All that aside, I had a lot of fun watching this chapter and loved this series madly, I hope you enjoyed this read and this conclusion that I've been wanting to close for a while now.
