A Quick Update From As Far South as You Can Get
You know you are in proper travel mode when you forget to HIVE. With intermittent reception and busy days relaxing, it's little wonder I have barely been online, save for quick Instagram posts for our Landrover account, @wildtrackdreaming, which documents some of our travels in beautiful Tasmania.

The roadside produce has been amazing.. January is a time for blueberries, raspberries, apricots, cherries and the famous pink eye potatoes.

This update is from the most southern place you can drive in Australia, a place called Cockle Creek, about three hours drive from Hobart. It's cooler here and quiet, save the gentle hush of waves in the still bay.

We will do the south cape walk tomorrow, getting as far as you can walk in Australia.

The whole trip has been wonderful so far. We kept meeting Landrover folk who would introduce us to Landrover folk who would even offer us places to stay, such s this incredible property in Glen Huon, where in one direction was nothing but wilderness.

Bruny Island was also nothing short of spectacular - stunning beaches, white wallabies, surf, oysters, and more. I'll be writing in more detail about it later.

We have also been looking a lot at boats. Jamie's dream is to live in Franklin for a year and do the wooden boat building course.

Whilst it might all look idyllic, it's not been without it's worries. Dad's cancer is back so it's hard not to think about that and feel a little heartbroken. There's no way I'll move to Tassie until we can see Dad safe or fare him well off this mortal coil. It's also impossible to find property here as the market is crazy, so our dream is somewhat delayed.

This doesn't mean we are less in love with Tasmania..it's simply confirmed our desire to live here.

Tasmania looks gorgeous, we never made it the island when we worked in and travelled around Australia in 2007/2008, which was a pity as our friends did go and they loved it. Also, on the no Hive thing, no harm and actually I would say it is good to have a completed break from the blue light of devices for a few days or weeks every now and again - many of us spend the majority of our days now looking at screens, so if you can arrange to not do that for nearly 1 week, I say well done. Very sorry to hear about your Dad too.

Who know, I might get back for a holiday some time, this time with the kids. One of my best friends lives in Brisbane, so we could go and visit them and do a trip around the places we missed the first time around and make it over to New Zealand too. We actually missed Uluru the first time also, so would definitely look to fit that in this time too.

Yes and it's finally back to hot agasin!

Heading up to the Far South Coast of NSW in the am and although it's usually really hot and dry (cracking with bushfires) my brother said there's been nothing but rain and it's not that hot either...

Sorry to hear about your dad... 😕

Can imagine you'll want to live in Tassie. My friends from @smalltall do also like it very much! They just bought their house there (nearby where you are at the moment btw. If you might be looking for another place to stay let me know.) and I can't see the mmoving anywhere else. To bad the current health situation worldwide doesn't make it easy to come over and view their beloved Tassie. 

Are you planning to let Jamie do his wooden boat coarse once you're in calm waters?

They live in Claremont nowadays, think that is just a 1.5 or 2 hrs drive from your position (don't know how the driving experience is in Tassie 🤣 I haven't been able to visit them yet)

South Cape walk is great to do, usually lots of people carrying surfboards all the way to go surfing in the big waves that frequent South Cape.
