In less than a month of being unemployed (by choice), I realized and learned little things  that greatly makes a difference. 

# 1. Do not waste food.

Since I'm usually in the house to check on the market fluctuation and posting on steemit. I learned to explore our refrigerator. What I meant is to check whether there's left over food to eat. Since me and my siblings and I mostly buy already cooked food or buy new ingredients every time we cook (if we have time and energy) at the end of the day we often forget what we already have stored in the refrigerator so either it gets spoiled or just forgotten until it's already expired. Such a waste. 

Now I make sure that all ingredients and food inside will be consumed first before going to the grocery again. Economical, practical and to honor and appreciate our farmer's hard work. If not,  give it to street children or homeless people if you really don't want it anymore. Just make sure it's still in a good condition. 

# 2. De-cluttering

Yes, I'm a hoarder. I keep receipts, forms, sometimes even old notebooks. Then when it comes to clothes, I still am hopeful I'll fit in my favorite clothes. But seems I can no longer use them. I also have a lot of bags, wallets and stuffed toys. 

So what I did, I placed them in a large bag and is planning to have a garage sale soon. I also posted it in carousell, an app that allows you to post about  pre-loved or new items and sell them to those who want it and can give these items a better home. And I've donated some decent clothing to typhoon victims and the likes. 

# 3. Talent exploration

I love arts, but arts don't love me. Haha. I want to learn sewing clothes, crochet, to make my own cross stitch  pattern and work on it. I wanted to paint with watercolor. I want to draw. Even to begin understanding the basics of photography. Little by little I'm able to do this, I'm even improving in blogging (I hope you agree). I even learned to make my own GIF. 

# 4. checking my to to-do list

I can do that now in a reasonable time. I am no longer procrastinating. I don't have any excuse now. I was able to renew my passport, organize our family outing, update my files, have a check up and visit my dentist.  Repair some fixtures in the house. Clean the house.

# 5. Self pampering

You deserve this. Going to the spa and getting a package with a full body scrub, a hot bath, ventosa and a full body healing massage with a hot cup of tea is so refreshing. 

I finally got to finish binge watching the Korean drama "Goblin", now catching up with some animes.

Was able to go to PAWS and donate some food and bonded with the shelter dogs and cats. I even dived in a pool of white balls in Ball Pit Manila, reliving my childhood days. And ate a lot of food I've been craving for. 

# 6. Budgeting

When you don't expect a paychek you deal with what you have and think of ways how to still add to your current assets. 
steemit is a great part of it.  

I used my 13th month pay to spend in my 2 month planned unemployment vacation. Just like when a summer vacation for students. I make sure no bills are unpaid and that I prioritize the expenses I incur without compromising the allowance meant for my parents. 

Before you take a time off, be prepared for you to fully enjoy this time off work.

# 7. Cooking

As I say to people "I only cook when I'm in the mood". I don't cook very often. like once every 3 months. haha. But since I stay at home most of the time, I open the fridge and make something out. I just recently cooked spicy pork and chicken adobo. And it tasted great, accornding to my siblings and my boyfriend. haha

# 8. Business opportunities

Since I am hooked to the internet you see ads and tips about some extra income generator. Yet still being careful about what I select and consider. Also this is the best time to think about the bigger picture, like, what do you really want to do? Do you want to be an employee until you retire or you plan to be the owner of that business and manage it. Now I know what I wanted, the time frame and the cost it will entail. So securing another job to get the necessary items required will be my motivation in job hunting once I'm fully recharged. Plan your retirement and save for the future. 

# 9. Recharging

Workers/employees are like battery cells as they say, we get worn out and without the proper care you need to recharge, we become drained and burned out. I am taking this opportunity to recharge and at the same time select the best employer, meaning those who care and value their employees. Those who are willing and able to take care of them. Then at that time I can give my 100% to my new endeavor.

# 10. Realization

You realize a lot of things like, your health and peace of mind matters more than your paycheck and how other people are still not realizing this.  Also that we all need a break and allow yourself to explore your passion. Also know your limits and be aware that you have a choice. 

Whatever your life situation is now, don't forget to slow down, breath and smile. These little things will make an impact on your mood and clear your head. Listen to yourself and act on it. :D
