Hey again!

Its Rob from The Off Grid Tiny House

Today's blog I thought I would share how I survive in today's rough economy by getting all of my groceries from the local dollar tree. Now I probably lost a few of you already by saying this. However stay with me for a bit so I can explain. So I have done some comparison shopping with your average grocery store versus the dollar tree. Yes there a big differences but mostly in prices. The max you can spend on an item at the dollar tree is $1.25. But any other average grocery store it could cost upwards of $5. So I found if you tailor your buys at the dollar store to stuff you like and can get buy with shopping there for a month or so. Check to see how much you would have normally paid out anywhere else.

Heres the big thing to watch for ! ALWAYS read the ingredient labels at anything you would like to buy from the dollar tree. There is a ton of bad stuff for you in there and you must be vigilant if you want to eat healthy there. So I tend to avoid the crap and go over the ingredients with a fine tooth comb. Now surprisingly I have found organic food on many occasions at my local dollar tree. Which blew my mind because these are high dollar items and I just don't know how they can do this. I even checked the expire dates on this stuff and all is good. So all I can say is please try this method if you fall on rough times or just need to save up for something and get by at the same time.

Also I recommend avoiding anything from china. Its just me but I don't trust anything from there especially with there standards for product. Now remember I am talking about food, I know most items are made in china. Now I also get a lot of my low budget prepping items at the dollar store and day to day items as well.I dont trust the cleaning products they have but hey you can always do what I do and buy the baking soda and make your own cleaner.
