Germany will get LNG from Qatar from 2026 to 2041, which has nothing to do with coping with winter of 2022. This deal is for the future.

Anyway, after [Nord Stream pipelines](https://hive.blog/hive-122315/@rocket47/who-sabotaged-those-nord-stream-pipelines) between Germany and Russia were sabotaged, it seems Germans found out they need another "fossil fuel" supply route.

Why wouldn't Germans just go "green" with their renewable energy such as wind and solar power?

Because it's not sustainable.

Some radical environmentalists shouted something like "fossil fuel is bad and the world will end in 10 years." Apparently German government doesn't think so. If the world will end in 10 years because of fossil fuel consumption, why do you need 15-year supply of LNG?

When energy shortage actually happens, it shows that so-called renewable energy in current state cannot replace conventional energy sources. 

And I don't think the world will end in 10 years because of fossil fuel consumption or carbon emission. The elites are still flying around with private jets and buying luxurious houses near the sea.
