How I Lost My Hive Account and Found a Lesson in It. To be honest, I didn’t plan to write this, but sometimes sharing our story might help someone else. So here’s mine — how I lost my previous Hive account and what the last five months have taught me about life, people, and the importance of keeping things safe. My old Hive account was @eniolaabioye. It was created on September 15, 2024, with so much joy and excitement, and I had dreams of growing, unlearning, relearning, and sharing my journey. But everything changed when my phone got spoiled in early January. At first, I thought I would be able to fix the phone.

I used every kobo I had at that time to try and repair it. I visited repair shops, changed parts, and even tried different technicians, but nothing worked. Everything I did, all the money I spent, it all went to waste. What hurts the most is that I really needed that phone. I was getting ready for my first semester exams, and almost all my school stuff was on it. Honestly, I even find it easier to read on my phone than flipping through textbooks. So being without it felt like I had lost a part of myself. Eventually, after much struggle, I got another phone. My joy didn’t last long, though. When I tried logging into my Hive account, I realized I needed to access my Gmail to retrieve my Hive keys. But Gmail was asking for permission because it detected a new device, and I couldn’t verify anything. Just like that, I lost access to my Gmail… and to Hive. It was painful. I tried everything to get the Gmail back, trying to use my old passwords and even using backups. But nothing worked. I felt so defeated.

For weeks, I kept delaying opening a new Hive account because I was so discouraged. I kept thinking about all the things I had lost: my self-posts, my connections, and the little growth I had started building. Two people really helped me through that hard time—@oluwatosin and @princessbusayo. They didn’t let me drown in it. They kept reaching out and reminding me that starting again isn’t the end of the world. And honestly, without them, I probably would’ve been trapped in that dark place for even longer. Their encouragement and support made me understand things clearly: it’s not always about what we lose, but who stands by us when life hits hard. The people around you matter so much. They can either drag you down or help you rise. I’m grateful mine lifted me. So, here I am, back again with a new Hive account—@rofiat.

I’m not where I used to be, but I’m starting fresh, and this time, I’m writing everything down and backing it up properly. Losing that account taught me a big lesson: don’t take small details for granted. Save your passwords, back up your emails, and don’t rely on memory alone.
