The more you understand Bitcoin the more ingenious you realize it is. It is one of the most disruptive inventions of my lifetime. There are several levels and layers to the benefits of it for humanity. That said, in the end, anything is only as valuable as everyone agrees that it is. I sometimes fear the widespread mania because that is a sure sign of a price bubble. Is BTC used for crime? Sure, but not nearly as much as fiat currency, namely the US dollar. I feel the only way BTC can be taken down at this point is for *the powers that be* to shake people's confidence in it. I really hope that doesn't happen. I see attempts at that every day in my newsfeed and most often it's baseless. No matter what happens I feel lucky to have been a part of it. It's already changed many, many lives for the better and ushered in a whole new investment class. I have no ideas of its origins but tend to fall on the side of a group of people who were disgusted by the crimes and inequities of the '08 Financial Crisis. In my mind it's too disruptive to the entire world of traditional finance to be anything else. The legacy fiancial system had the entire world by the cahonas before crypto hit and, for the moment at least, there's a Plan B.
