Semiconductor stocks have done extremely well in 2020.  You have many chip names at all-time highs. One of those names is Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. which took advantage of Intel’s misstep.  Several weeks ago when Intel reported earnings reported that its next generation of semiconductor technology will be delayed.  However, traders think AMD is going much higher through usual options activity.  Another chip name that is starting to see some love by the Smart Money is STMicroelectronics.

STMicroelectronics, together with its subsidiaries, develops, manufactures, and markets semiconductor products in EMEA, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific.  STM is a global independent semiconductor company which designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductor integrated circuits and discrete devices. 

Products created by this company have applications in a wide array of industries and sectors, including telecommunications, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.  Customers of STMicroelectronics include: Apple, Bosch, Cisco, Continental, HP, Samsung, Sony and Western Digital, among others.

So lets pick out some keywords…telecommunications, consumer electronics and Apple…OK, let stop there.

Today, I noticed the Smart Money buying over 24,000 call options at the $35 strike price that expire in Sept.

However, price could move up to the $35 level within the next week based on the huge open interest in the August call options.

Despite the weekly supply at $31, I jumped in the trade too...get your popcorn ready.
