Congratulations to me, finally, I became a credit card holder however, it was not an easy decision to take. I was always against the credit card because of its tricky and confusing terms and conditions in which many of the people gets trapped and end up in paying more and more to the bank instead of utilizing and getting benefits from this useful thing. As every other thing, this credit card has bad and good things in it which we should analyze before using it.

It took me 8 years to finally take this decision to apply for credit card. In 2016, we had an event in my ex-company where a bank representative visited us and attracted us for this credit card however, I was not eligible at that time. if I would be eligible, still I was not interested because I used to think of it as a scam. Me and my friend cum colleague had a discussion on it and we started working on it. Checking the terms and conditions thoroughly, pointing out cons and pros. It was not suitable for us at that time.

Then, I got a call from one of the banks in 2019 for a credit card, he briefed me about their terms and conditions and there was no annual fee and blah blah. I was not interested at that time too. I don’t feel like spending money which I don’t have in my pocket and who knows about the next day, whether I would be able to pay the billing amount and if not, that will be the start of interest. Once again, big NO from my side and I let down the offer.

Last year, when my parents were discussing to buy some home appliances, I checked them in online stores. In last five years, I realized that E-comm has gained a lot of popularity and is one of the convenient way to purchase online without any hassle plus they provide a lot of discounts on credit cards along with some wonderful installment plans having no interest fee. This thing surely attracted me and got my attention. Now is the time to re-work on cons and pros of credit card. This will be very helpful for my Father who is running our home and owns the responsibility of each and everything at home. Sometimes, some extra expenses disturb the whole monthly budget so credit card will take care of such expenses and can easily be billed back by next couple of months.

Looking at the features of different credit cards, I choose one and applied for it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a positive response from them and after couple of months, they replied that due to some technical issues in their system, my application got an error and I have to apply again. I thought it as some kind of sign which is keeping me away from credit card and didn’t applied again.

In January 2024, one of my friends asked me if I wanted a credit card and I said yes, it was so quick that within a couple of hours, bank representative visited me at my workplace and told me about their credit card features. I got agreed and shared required documentation and within a week or so, my credit card arrived at my workplace. Wowow it all happened so quickly, I was not expecting such kind of service after I got rejected in my last application. The news spread all over the office and everyone was like why how and where, so many questions from different kinds of people, some making me feel bad that I took a wrong decision whereas some giving me advises on how to get rid of their scams and extra monies. I told all of them one thing that I have worked a lot on this credit card topic, still I would not recommend anyone to apply for credit card because it required a lot of patience and control which I have mastered in myself and I am sure not every other person can. This is my story of becoming a credit card holder and will be sharing its features along with some of my tips on which I am working to keep balance of my budgets and expenses, in my upcoming posts.
