Hello everyone, Welcome to my **Splinterlands Social Media Challenge** post. In this post, I will talk about the **Retaliate Ability** and more, as well as an amazing battle. I hope it will be useful for you.

When hit with a Melee attack, **Monsters** with **Retaliate Ability** have a 50% chance of immediately attacking their attacker. Therefore, it is an ability that can be very effective against Melee Attack Monsters, if I feel that my opponent will use melee attack monsters, I prioritize including the Retaliate Ability in my lineup. By the way, Attack accuracy applies in the Retaliate Ability;

By the way, Attack accuracy applies;

Melee or Ranged Attack Monsters have a chance of the attack missing depending on certain variables;

**Blind Ability** reduces attack accuracy by 15%
**Dodge Ability** reduces attack accuracy by 25%
**Flying Ability** reduces attack accuracy by 25% (only if the attacking Unit isn't flying)
**Speed Differential** reduces attack accuracy by 10% per speed differential point

Monsters with the Retaliate ability can even retaliate when destroyed. Additionally, Armored Strike can trigger retaliate. Also, retaliate can be amplified. Retaliate Ability is a very effective ability against Melee attacks, you can also increase the attack power of Monsters with Retaliate Ability to make them more effective. You can increase their attack power with the **Inspire Ability** or summoners that give extra melee attack. Meanwhile, it is up to you to make them more effective in battles with a good strategy.

By the way, a Monster with the Retaliate Ability cannot attack or retaliate if stunned. And Blind Ability is a complete enemy against Retaliate. Therefore, you should consider including the Stun Ability and Blind Ability in your lineup to counter the Retaliate Ability.

In the **Splinterlands**, As far as I know, there are 27 cards with the **Retaliate Ability**, one of which is Summoner. I only have four of these cards in my deck, but I plan to buy the others in the future, especially the Cryptic Summoner card.

**Cryptic** is a really powerful summoner and I would love to have it in my deck so I added it to my to buy list. Cryptic allows all enemy monsters to have -1 speed and all enemy Monsters to receive the Blinded effect at the start of battle (All enemy Melee & Ranged attacks have a 15% higher chance of missing their target.). Also gives Retaliate and Enfeeble or Poison and Expose for 2 Units. Wow, having such a summoner will be a really big advantage for my team in some battles.

Let's examine the Retaliate Ability in a battle.

- **Explosive Weaponry**: All Monsters have the Blast ability.
- **Equalizer**: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
- **Melee Mayhem**: Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position.

According to the ruleset of the battle, all monsters in this battle will have the Blast Ability, and the initial Health of all Monsters will be equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health, and Melee attack Monsters will be able to attack from any position. Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the recent 5 battles of the opposing player, I could predict that the opposing player would prefer melee attack monsters in this battle, and I determined my strategy accordingly.

First of all, I choose Pembrook Nymph as the Summoner since I want to use a gladiator card and Monsters from the Water unit in this battle. And without hesitation, I put Dumacke Orc with Shield Ability and Retaliate Ability in the first position. Even though the Dumacke Orc had 1 health, its health would be equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. And since Dumacke Orc will also have the Blast Ability in this battle, it will make the opposing team suffer when it retaliates. 

In this battle, all monsters would have the Blast Ability, and although it seems logical to use the Reflection Shield Ability in the second position, I will put Kulu Mastermind, which has Opportunity and Shield abilities,4 Speed anda 4 Melee attacks, in the second position. I believed that Kulu Mastermind would be more effective than Venator Kinjo with the Reflection Shield Ability in this battle. I will also include the Inspire Ability in my lineup so that melee attack monsters can attack their targets more powerfully. 

It is one of the most effective strategies against Melee Attack Monsters, and it is really difficult to counter such a strategy with melee attack monsters in such a battle.

While the opposing team's Melee and Ranged Attack Monsters were having a hard time damaging Dumacke Orc, they were literally suffering from its retaliatory attacks. I am not surprised that the opposing player prefers melee attack monsters, but I would like to say that I am very surprised that the opposing player did not add any of the Shield, Inspire, and Demoralize Abilities to their lineup. Frankly, my inclusion of the Shield and Inspire abilities in my lineup greatly benefited my team in this battle. I highly recommend using abilities like Shield, Inspire, Demoralize, Thorns, Double Strike, and Bloodlust in these types of battles. We saw how effective some of them were in this battle.

The battle lasted only 2 rounds, and at the end of the battle, all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, while all the monsters on my team were still alive. Most interestingly, at the end of the battle, Dumacke Orc still had 11 health and the Resurrect Ability had not even been used. With the effect of the Blast ability, Dumacke Orc showed a great performance in this battle and literally devastated the opposing team. Also, in this battle, we've also seen Blast apply in Retaliate. My strategy worked pretty well and my team won this battle pretty easily. Frankly, it was really difficult to counter such a strategy with melee and ranged attack monsters, so I prefer such and similar strategies in such battles. However, my strategy might not work very well against magic attack monsters, but even they were not easy to achieve victory against such a strategy.

Brief descriptions of the abilities I mentioned above;

- **Retaliate Ability** : When hit with a Melee attack, Units with Retaliate have a 50% chance of immediately attacking their attacker.
- **Inspire Ability** : Gives all friendly Units +1 Melee attack.
- **Demoralize Ability** : Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Units by 1.
- **Blind Ability** : All enemy Melee & Ranged attacks have a 15% higher chance of missing their target.
- **Stun Ability** : When a Unit with Stun hits a target, there is a 50% chance that the target will skip its next turn.
- **Dodge Ability** : Has a 25% higher chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks.
- **Blast Ability** : Does half damage (rounded up) to Units adjacent to the target Unit
- **Reflection Shield Ability** : This Unit doesn't take damage from Blast, Magic Reflect, Thorns, or Return Fire.
- **Flying Ability** : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
- **Shield Ability** : Reduces damage from Melee and Ranged attacks by 50%.
- **Resurrect Ability** : When a friendly Unit dies it is brought back to life with 1 Health. This ability can only trigger once per battle.
- **Thorns Ability** :  When hit with a Melee attack, does 2 Melee damage back to the attacker.
- **Double Strike Ability** : This unit attacks twice each round.
- **Bloodlust Ability** : This Unit revels in the glory of combat and becomes more dangerous as the battle goes on. Every time it defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats.
