Esta es la primera publicación después de mi presentación y les voy a contar una historia de amor. Una enseñanza de vida, una puerta que se abrió de par en par hacia un conocimiento profundo de ternura y compasión. Hoy vamos a adentrarnos en el maravilloso mundo de la relación entre un humano y un felino.

Los gatos pueden ser tan desconocidos, mal interpretados y hasta demonizados por algunos, como apreciados y altamente valorados por todos los que hemos tenido el privilegio de convivir y gozar de la compañía y amistad verdadera de algunos de estos seres de luz.

Hace 17 años que vivo con @saraleo, mi pareja. En el primer año adoptamos a Chula, una perrita callejera que se convirtió en parte de la familia y hace tiempo tras muchos esfuerzos por salvarla de una enfermedad terminal, falleció finalmente partiéndonos el corazón. Fue un proceso largo, muy triste y doloroso. Acordamos que nunca mas tendríamos otra mascota. La vida y sus vueltas hicieron que una tarde que tronaba y llovía a cántaros, Sari llegara de la calle con mucha urgencia, sujetándose el pecho, pidiendo a gritos ayuda y una toalla. Yo me asuste !!! Y cuando llegué donde estaba, veo un animalito prieto y empapado que le cabía sobradamente en la mano, le dije -Oyeeee chica, pero eso es una rata !!!...en ese momento se escuchó un ....miauuuuu esclarecedor.

Sari me miró y me dijo llorando y muy nerviosa que teníamos que salvarlo. Tendría como 4 días de nacido, sin pelos aún, con los ojos cerrados y temblando de frío. Le dimos todo el calor que pudimos y salimos a buscar leche y un gotero, al que se prendió desesperado chupando y dándonos la primera lección de vida; era un verdadero SOBREVIVIENTE. Le buscamos una canasta y lo arropamos con una colchita y durmió calentito y tranquilo. Al otro día le digo a Sari- Si se salva, no sé lo que vamos a hacer pero aquí no se queda.

>Sari looked at me and told me crying and very nervous that we had to save him. He was about 4 days old, still hairless, with his eyes closed and shivering from the cold. We gave him all the warmth we could and went out to get milk and a dropper, to which he desperately latched on sucking and giving us the first lesson of life; he was a true SURVIVOR. We found him a basket and tucked him in with a little mattress and he slept warmly and peacefully. The next day I tell Sari- If he is saved, I don't know what we are going to do, but he won't stay here.

Fueron pasando los días y aquel bichito hermoso, al contrario de lo que nos decían todos los amigos y conocedores, que era prácticamente imposible que se salvara en esas condiciones y sin su madre natural, abrió los ojos, empezó a crecer y ponerse fuerte. A la vez que se robaba poco a poco mi cariño con sus miraditas y travesuras, hasta que una mañana me despierto y lo veo tratando de subir a la cama, lo ayudé, se me trepó en el pecho y se quedó mirándome… ronroneando. En ese momento tuve una gran revelación; enseguida desperté a Sari y le dije- Es hembrita, se llama Omi (significa agua, en lengua Yorubá) y se queda con nosotros.

>Days went by and that beautiful little critter, contrary to what all friends and connoisseurs told us, that it was practically impossible for him to be saved in those conditions and without his natural mother, opened his eyes, began to grow and become strong. At the same time he stole little by little my affection with his little looks and mischief, until one morning I woke up and saw him trying to climb into bed, I helped him, he climbed on my chest and stayed looking at me ... purring. At that moment I had a great revelation; I immediately woke up Sari and told her: "It's a female, her name is Omi (it means water, in Yoruba language) and she stays with us.

 Mi experiencia hasta el momento era totalmente perruna, a los gatos los veía preciosos pero de lejos, nunca imaginé convivir con uno y no tenía la menor idea de lo majestuosos, inteligentes, limpios, curiosos y cariñosos que son.

>My experience so far was totally doggy, I saw cats as beautiful but from afar, I never imagined living with one and I had no idea how majestic, intelligent, clean, curious and affectionate they are. 

Una noche, cuando Omi ya tenía como 2 meses, estaban los músicos de mi banda en la casa, nos preparábamos para irnos a un bar de mi barrio a dar un concierto cuando alguien gritó- Piñooooooooool !!!...la gatica se cayó por el balcón !!! (2do piso). Bajamos corriendo pensando en lo peor, fue algo tremendo, todos llorando y ella al parecer estaba bien, solo le dolía una patica. Sari se quedó con ella cuidándola y los demás nos fuímos a trabajar. Esa noche canté con el alma, secándome las lágrimas y tan pronto acabó el show nos fuimos todos rápido a mi casa. No estuvimos tranquilos hasta que al otro día su doctora la revisó y nos dijo que estaba bien, que se había lastimado la pata trasera izquierda pero no tenía fractura.

>One night, when Omi was about 2 months old, the musicians of my band were at home, we were getting ready to go to a bar in my neighborhood to give a concert when someone shouted- Piñoooooooooool !!!...the kitten fell from the balcony !!! (2nd floor). We ran downstairs thinking the worst, it was something tremendous, everyone was crying and she seemed to be fine, she only had a sore paw. Sari stayed with her taking care of her and the rest of us went to work. That night I sang my heart out, wiping my tears and as soon as the show was over we all rushed home. We were not calm until the next day when her doctor checked her and told us that she was fine, that she had hurt her left hind leg but she did not have a fracture.

 Lo que yo les cuente de la conexión que se puede llegar a tener con un gato, va a ser muy poco comparado con la realidad, ella nos da su energía constantemente, le gusta estar cerca cuando meditamos y se queda tranquila sin molestar recibiendo la nuestra. Es increíble lo independiente que es, se puede confundir con indiferencia pero en realidad siempre está al tanto de nosotros, salvo en un momento misterioso del día en que se va a un escondite que tiene y que hasta ahora no hemos descubierto. Es muy linda, graciosa, juguetona, cazadora, pícara; he ingenua a la vez, aunque salió a su Papi humano en el carácter cuando la molestan...jajajaja. 
La realidad es que estamos perdidamente enamorados de esta gatica que ha traído tantas bendiciones a nuestra vida, sobre todo en aquellos terribles días de pandemia, confinamiento y cambios profundos.

The reality is that we are madly in love with this kitty who has brought so many blessings to our lives, especially in those terrible days of pandemic, confinement and profound changes.

Tanto Sari como yo hemos descubierto en nuestra convivencia con Omi,  que cuando llegas a amar a un gato te enamoras de todos los gatos del mundo. Es algo adictivo. No podemos traer a otros a vivir con nosotros porque Omi es muy territorial, pero sí  protegemos y alimentamos con regularidad a tres gatos del barrio que nombramos: Musa,  Flaco y Pipo.

>Both Sari and I have discovered in our coexistence with Omi, that when you get to love a cat you fall in love with all the cats in the world. It's addictive. We can't bring others to live with us because Omi is very territorial, but we do regularly protect and feed three neighborhood cats we name: Musa, Flaco and Pipo.
