May ProgBlog #2: that feeling when

The problem with hands, is that I keep ending up with a Moebius strip despite my best efforts.

(this is not technically a Moebius strip, it's just the same feeling I get when you're tracing one; for the [Home Edders](https://peakd.com/c/hive-199420), [Moebius strips](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moebius_strip) are a fun activity, get the kids to cut out a strip of paper, half-twist one end, tape the ends together and tell them to draw a line on either the inside or the outside but not both)

I'm pretty sure I've got better flow now, but I'll find out when I'm done with the hands and feet and can test with the rig.

Central tower presented me with a problem when I was testing the sun position add on and the sun didn't shine into the office as much as I thought it would (which in fairness is hardly surprising given there is a large mezzanene floor and I had the solar panel strip which shaded things).  I don't think the strip was quite as big as I thought it was.

I think there will probably be something up the top as well, there seems to be greenery growing on something up there and there may be more shelter on the walkways from inclement weather but I'll see what I can see.

Yes I will fill in the gaps in between presently.

I feel like if he'd had more time or at least less existential threat, The Architect would have likely made everything a lot prettier, he seems like the kind of guy that loved form as much as function.

Speaking of which, I had this sketchy that I'd started I don't remember when and when I looked at it again I was like crap which ones are they again.

It's C'inokh the Architect who designed Acaedia in 876AER, and his highschool sweetheart Cassandra, first Tribe HIgh Monarchs.  In the period these two existed, racial tensions were high, C'inokh (correctly much to his annoyance) predicted there was going to be a war and designed the citadel as a protective measure.  Flyers and sympathisers moved in as soon as it became habitable (it wasn't complete when people started moving in and apparently only took a year to build so I don't know what the hell building techniques they have in the far future as this thing is freaking massive).

They were among a batch of interesting stories I found while travelling back in time trying to work out why the Royal Guard and Warriors in particular but basically all the Artist characters were acting in ways that confused me at the time (makes perfect sense now I've done this time travel).  Slightly useless trivia, C'inokh's foster brother Ter'wyn is also his bodyguard and one of Tsa'run's ancestors.

Tsa'run being bodyguard to High Prince Zul'jinn in my current block (using an old pic again because I haven't drawn any recent ones).

My current block is set in 1997AER and I went back to -194AER which is 2009CE, and some of the weird weather effects I wrote in to cause chaos did actually happen but fortunately not to the extent in the head-universe x_x

And I'm glad that the virus wasn't as bad (the one in my head-universe killed a lot of people and made a lot of survivors either sterile or severely brain-damaged or both, but then again it also happened a lot later in my timeline but before the reset/"Ragnarok" event, hopefully that's not coming :O XD).

This weekend is shaping up to be a bit of a crazy one with insanity on both days.  It's also the first time in a long time that I get to spend Mother's Day with my mother and also the first time in a long time she gets to spend Mother's Day with her mother.  I wanted to get her something but mental blank isn't even coming close to describing what's  going on in my meagre brain when I'm trying to think what.  I kind of wanted to get her a plant because I hate buying cut flowers but it might be resorting to that or getting her a nice pot as she probably won't be able to take the plant with her.  Assuming I can find one or J can find one as I'm not sure if I'll be able to go shopping with him when he goes shopping for his mum as I'm working in the morning x_x

Hopefully I'll figure something out and either way it will be a good day.

I see those hands turned out better? or it's just the angle that's changed. Im liking the structure you're building, reminds me of one of those alien inspired structures I browsed on pinterest but this one has more order. 

Have you made a timeline of the world you're building or is it still stuck in your head universe? sounds like a saga with different eras.

Just the angle, I haven't messed with them yet.  I don't know that I'll mess with them too much after finishing the retopo as she is a teenager with spindly little dagger fingers.

There is a timeline, it lives on my computer, it's much easier to find stuff when it's there rather than in my brain where there's indexing issues XD

Hands are a real pain in the ass to do, but yours look infinitely way better than what I've ever done! It's the fingers that get you, isn't it? Every single one has a mind of their own but they still have to follow a specific flow. Especially with animation that has specific gestures like yours, this would be a key thing.

The central tower is coming along nicely!

Drawing hands is a pain in the arse XD even with bases I can still never get it right x_x Once I get the flow right in 3d (and use the right bone type as after one rig update the finger bones became tentacles and I failed to notice and spent ages wondering why they were deforming so weirdly til I realised I was missing the main finger controllers x_x my rigged defaults that I use for sketchies still have those as I cba fixing them ^_^;) it's fine.

Yeh central tower is generally behaving itself.  Theoretically everything else should be pretty easy as all the apartment types are the same layout so all I need to do is duplicate those, and a lot of the other rooms I just need to know are there and won't necessarily have to actually do anything else with them unless there happens to be a scene in them XD

Even though I wish there were more decorative bits in it I'm also glad there's no more decorative bits in it x_x

The French citadel is quite pretty, enough that it's something I'm hoping I'll have the skill level for when I finally get around to modelling it, but that's at least in the next block XD

It's not *that* old, would have been sometime in the last couple of years ^_^; I probably did it in one of my many failed attempts to produce any kind of concept art for characters that don't have any yet but apparently I can only somewhat do concept art for cameos x_x

<sub>I even tried pretending I was doing it for cameos and it no worky as I'm not good enough to fool...well anyone really much less myself</sub>

It was a lot of stuff in one day but it was a good day XD (aside from pixie and I getting allergic reactions to some chocolate which I know I've had before and I'm pretty sure she's had before, that was not fun, either a bad batch or a new recipe that contains something we're allergic to I think o_O) J had gotten his mum a bottle of wine and a lotto ticket and we'd bought my mum some jam, lemon butter, quince (had to look up what that was because J just assumed we would know what it was for but none of us did XD) and two bottles of Carolina Reaper infused olive oil.

And Mum confirmed that they wouldn't have been able to bring  a plant back and laughed when I told her how I was thinking of getting her this awesome looking little pot that I saw at some markets when I realised they were made of stone XD

I just finished reading a trilogy that I really enjoyed ... *Monster Blood Tattoo* by D.M. Cornish. An absolute amazing, original fantasy book. Reading your post above made me think you would love it. And it so happens he is also Australian.

There's too much stuff in my brain, I'm lucky if I can remember what I did yesterday (but I could probably tell you something completely random and vaguely related from almost any time, which I may or may not remember if you were to ask me directly XD).  Most of the time I know I know something but don't know how to get it into conscious memory x_x So stuff is a lot quicker to recall if I write it down XD

That title sounds kind of familiar, and also like something I would pick up to check out.  Wish I had more time, sadly reading is one of the things that has fallen by the wayside :<
