### Montagu Pass: Old Toll House. [](https://postimg.cc/LnJHFc6Q) Normally when we travel from city to city or town to town we use the main roads. It is sometime good to take the roads less travelled, it is more relaxing and much more scenic, and sometimes you find some hidden gems!! In this case we travelled on a gravel road which is named the Montagu Pass. This pass was constructed between 1844 and 1847 and runs between the towns of Oudtshoorn and George in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. While travelling we stumbled onto the old **Toll House** which was built to accommodate the toll keeper and his family. The original building had a thatch roof, which was destroyed in a fire and replaced with the corrugated iron roof. [](https://postimg.cc/7GBfmSm5) On weekends you can get free coffee and pancakes at the Toll House, they just ask for a donation to maintain the old building, as it is privateers which is maintaining the place.
