<div class="text-justify">

**ADDICTION?** Short word but with incredible consequences in our lives, A big problem that many or all of us have.

**What is an addiction? According to the World Health Organization (WHO):**

>“We understand by addiction a physical and psycho-emotional illness where a dependence on a substance, activity or relationship develops caused by the satisfaction that its use generates in the person. Alcohol, food, drugs, theft, gambling, sex, technology, relationships. Everything can become an addiction when its absence generates anxiety, anguish and even depression.”

I have always thought that problems must be solved, but a real solution previously analyzed where the root cause and its respective consequences are evaluated to give possible truly effective solutions to contribute to the modification of the habit. Generally when we talk about alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and even food we know that we associate it with chemicals and the exposure time of the person when consuming it.

Many years ago the Partnership did a very simple experiment: I put a rat in a cage with two bottles of water, one containing only water and the other containing diluted cocaine. That resulted? Every time he repeated the experiment, the result was the same: The rat became obsessed with the drug-containing water and returned again and again until it died.

A few years passed and the American Psychologist Bruce Alexander in 1970 performed another experiment that he called "Rat Park". Why did he do this? evaluated the previous study and said: They were alone and did not socialize with anyone, their attitude may be related to the lack of communication and execution of other activities and put their hypothesis into practice by adding both containers of water, one normal and the other contaminated with drugs. , resulting in their remarkably preferred tap water. Even when they drank from the full drug bottle, they did so intermittently, not obsessively, and never overdosed.

<div class="text-justify">

So? Does it matter or not to be in contact with others or to occupy the mind with other things?
Yes! My beautiful people, it is super important to be in contact with others to overcome addictions, professional support along with family support because the real cause is not the drug itself, it is the feeling of isolation and disconnection of the affected person with their environment.

**This is expressed by Johann Hari:**

## <div class="phishy">¨The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. It is the human connection¨ Johann Hari</div>

##

You do not have friends? Don't have goals? Do you never leave your house? This does not help my dear friend! Since as human beings we have the need to connect or do things that we like and make us feel happy, and when we do not have it, we connect with other things such as pornography, online games, cigarettes, alcohol, gambling, drugs and anything else that fills that void that we have both physically and emotionally.

## **How to change this?**

To get out of connections that are not favorable or healthy, the best way is to form connections that are.

In my life I experienced a few years ago specifically in the period of my 15 to 21 years of age (6 years) I became addicted to soft drinks, not just anyone had to be a BLACK one, breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and even in the dawn consumed him, a total madness! I felt that I could not live without it, I only drank a maximum of one glass in 24 hours.

<div class="text-justify">

## **How did the uncontrolled consumption of this product affect my life?**

Soft drinks or sodas contain a high content of glucose and this goes directly to a terrible distribution in our body, mainly hitting our kidneys and our blood since it raises the levels of glycemia helping the development of diabetes, in addition, it generates insomnia and stomach problems of acidity. All this happened to me!

## **How did this change in my life?**

Changing habits, the first thing I did was acknowledge that the problem existed, mainly I performed some medical tests, in search of professional help I went to a nutritionist, this in the first consultation told me: “You have to drink 8 glasses of water a day" I wanted to die! I only tolerated a glass of water a day and sometimes not even full because it made me nauseous and I preferred to drink soda.

I was recently leaving the University and I asked myself the initial questions to pose the problem: **What? Why? For what?**

**Than? :** The soda.
**Why? :** Well I like it!.
**For what? :** To quench thirst, to accompany food, for everything.

So focusing on the **Why?** I found the solution to this problem in my life, its affectation was very noticeable and now I get the following question: **How do I do it?** And I said to myself, If I use it to quench my thirst I can use something else and I started to replace it with lemonades and natural juices sweetened with splenda, I explained my case of nausea with the water to the nutritionist and she recommended that I prepare jugs with mandarin shell, pineapple in the fridge , orange and lemon to have a variety of flavors and get a taste of the water, I was advancing very slowly but I succeeded, today I drink more than two liters of water daily.

Another bad news for me was: **"The ideal is to drink water 30min before or 30min after lunch"** This cost me a lot, but over the years I managed.

## **Today I do not have that desire to take it, my body rejects it naturally.**

I think that the change and acceptance of anything in life, both good and bad, will always depend on ourselves, because we all know the damage we do to ourselves, whether with substances or negative emotions, the exposure time is a trigger in this case if We continue to affect ourselves with what hurts us, we will end up damaged or dead like the rats in experiment number one, but if we connect with our environment and take a different approach to our life with an adoption of different habits, everything will be better, possibly not It may be overnight but if it is important for you to know that if you persevere you will see positive results in the passing of time, if you fall, get up and continue that YOU CAN and nobody can do it for you.
