*Poker is for Everybody!*
11 years ago, I met my husband and he was and still is a fantastic poker player. I had never played any kind of card games in the past and poker didn't really interest me at all.
I spent around 4 or 5 years just sitting and watching my husband play. He either did large tournaments or dabbled with the online sites. I just knew that poker was not my thing.
I continued sitting on the sidelines watching my hubby until one day, I got bored of just watching. I felt like playing.
I asked my man if he could set me up with a game online so I could try it out. I mean, I didn't have a clue what a flush or straight was but I had heard these things being talked about for years.
So, I settled in and started to play some beginner's poker for play money. Within a few minutes, I had already managed to collect a few chips. I was astounded! It felt so strange but really good inside to know that I understood the basics.
I had never even picked up cards for the 5 years before and now look at me go...I won some more hands. I started getting a little cocky. My husband noticed and said "Why don't try a real game...with real money?"

I thought about it and said "Maybe on the computer. I am not ready to play with people yet." We loaded some cash into my account and I geared up to play a small tournament.
I was so nervous but really excited! Not only was I understanding the cards, I was understanding and reading the players too. I realized that I have a knack for numbers and poker is a numbers game. It is challenging but so rewarding once you figure out the basics.
I have continued my love affair with poker for the past 7 years and I improve daily. The thing that amazes me the most is that I wasn't taught anything by anyone...I just learned by watching. My husband says I picked it up quick because I like it. I think sometimes when we really like something, it doesn't matter how we do it, we just find a way.
I love poker now. I only play for fun and I always impress my husband who really can't believe that I went from knowing nothing to knowing how to read a bluff. I am always on the look out for new things to learn.
*I have to realize that sometimes the lessons find me.*
We have brains for a reason. Keep those synapses firing at all times. Happy poker playing!

I wanted to include this chart with the poker hands. Take time to learn something new everyday.
