The beeping sound of the monitor filled the room as she lay unconscious in the hospital bed.

Jordan paced around the room, biting his thumb. He had just reunited with his sister after years of being apart and now this was the whole mess she was all up in. 

He glanced over at her as she fought for her life. She was fighting to choose between life and death now. 

Jordan tried to remember what happened that night. The night his sister collapsed in his arms, lying almost lifeless before she became unconscious. He hadn’t really paid attention to what hurt her or how she ended up bleeding. He could remember a man standing near her but at that moment, that was not what mattered. 

Chloe groaned as she slowly opened her eyes and was trying to raise her body from the bed when Jordan ran to her bedside. 

“Sister,” his voice came off in a low tone that it almost didn't reach Chloe’s ears. “Easy,” he said as she tried to raise her body from the bed. 

She looked frail and lost. She looked like she had been abandoned by the world and above all, she looked like she was hanging down a tiny string of life and could slip to the dying part. 

Tears rolled down her eyes as she turned her head gently to look around the room. Her whole body hurt and the part where she was stabbed felt numb like the cells there were dead. 

Chloe finally settled her eyes on her brother after looking around the room. She cupped his cheeks in his palm and rubbed her thumb on his cheeks. 

Jordan leaned into her touch with his eyes shut for a few seconds before he spoke. “Should I get the doctor? Let me get the doctor,” he said but Chloe shook her head. 

“Is it spring?” she finally in a frail tone and Jordan nodded his head accompanied by tears rolling down his cheeks. 

“It is spring, sister.”

“The last I saw you was during the winter. It must have been so cold. Life must have been so cold,” Chloe said with hurt in her heart and even her body. 

“But the Spring brought you back to me,” she added. Jordan nodded and chuckled with tears rolling down effortlessly down his cheeks. 

“What happened that night?” Jordan asked out of nowhere. Since what mattered first has been sorted out, the next thing in line should follow. 

“That night?” Chloe asked and Jordan nodded. 

“I don’t want to talk about it. It was a disaster but I’m glad you are here,”

“I’m never leaving.”

Chloe shut her eyes for a brief second before opening it and Jordan tightened his grip on her hand. 

“How…how has life been? It hurts me to ask but how has it been?” 

“It was tough. So rough but now, I got to the peak.”

“By the peak, do you mean…”

“I mean I got a hold of life’s blessings.”

Chloe stretched her lips in a thin smile, holding my hands with her two hands. 

“I’m glad. I’m so glad!!” 

Three weeks had passed and she was now being discharged from the hospital. Jordan was the only family she had and was the only one who stood by her when she was in her sick bed. 

Jordan drove her in his car and she could feel the elder sister's joy fill her heart. 

“Where are we going?” Chloe asked and Jordan smiled before igniting the car engine. 

“Where you belong, sis. Where you truly belong.”

She had no idea what he meant by that but she enjoyed the drive regardless. The air was fresh, the subtle rays of sunlight hitting the windshield reflected gently on her face and a smile played on her lips. 

“This is the best spring I have ever experienced!”

“It is the best for me as well,” Jordan replied. 

After forty minutes of driving, they finally got to a halt in front of a beautiful apartment. She looked over at Jordan with a perplexed look and he smiled. 

“This is our place,” 

“Here?”

“Yes,” 

She slowly got out of the car, looking around everywhere while Jordan took her things out of the car. She could feel the tears well up in her eyes, burning her eyes. Chloe tried to blink the tears back but they betrayed her as they slowly rolled down her cheeks. 

Chloe spread her hands out beside her and shut her eyes tightly. She took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh spring air that was hitting her nostrils with tears rolling down her cheeks. 

“Nature has finally blessed me. The Universe has finally heard my cry by bringing you back to me,” she said and Jordan smiled. 

“It has indeed blessed you. Blessed us, sis.”
