The Real Reason Steemit is Amazing (no, its not because of the 'original content')

There are myriad posts about why Steemit is amazing. Well, while sitting here it dawned on me: Steemit is amazing. It is so amazing, along with all the satellite project sites and all that relating literature and service matter, for one reason and one reason only:

# *It's not blocked at work.*

Think about it.

Pokemon Go? Get caught catching that Pikachu and your boss will stick his shoe up your sphincter.

Facebook? Forget it, it's blocked and has been for years.

Twitter? Don't even try it, your coworkers can recognise the layout and will rat you out from a mile away.

# The Steemit VIP No-Peasants Club

But Steemit is only for the clever niche. If you as much as mention the words "cryptocurrency", "bitcoin", "blockchain" or anything of the sort to a regular person, they'll look at you as if you just spontaneously broke out in a song and dance routine. In fact, I will guarantee it that most will think those are Minecraft elements. No one recognises Steemit, no one suspects it.

All the meanwhile you can sit back and read these unbranded white pages with all sorts of content all you want. Working on research for your report? Of course you are, no one can prove otherwise. Are you reading an industry whitepaper about optimising e-billing for the HR industry? Sure you are. Are you looking for a "real job" while your parents nag at you? Looks like a plausible job post to me. From a distance that is (and if they keep yelling just show them the $20 you "made off one post", they don't need to know you only got 150 Steem Power out of it). You can even sit on Steemit Chat all day and no one will be the wiser.

# Think About It

1. Not blocked at work
2. Your boss/parents/spouse don't know what it is
3. Not easily recognisable
4. Tons of content
5. Tons of affiliated project sites
6. Updated faster than Google News
7. No ads
8. No one will ever suspect a thing
9. You will never get bored and actually resort to doing work
10. Even the shit computer you got saddled with will open it

It's like being in a private VIP club that everyone else is too stupid to find the door to.

Yes that's part of the problem.  With Reddit and Imgur so mainstream it's getting harder to hide from the watchful eyes of the corporate rat.
