Weekends for most people is always filled with rest, enjoyment, relaxation and so many fun things to help bring serenity to the mind and body, after a busy week filled with unending activities but for me, most of my weekends are filled with work that keeps me very engaged making it look like a normal week day for me, which is very frustrating and tiring.  This weekend was no exception at all as I was informed of a work I needed to check and be on site with them to keep track of what is happening there. On a norms I won't complain about it because regardless of whether I complain or not I will still end up going but it was a different case this time around because I really needed to rest as I was already feeling the stress accumulate in my body and about to make me fall ill. My colleague came to my house to informed me because my phone was switched off because of low battery and about the directive given from our boss (the CEO of the company I work for) about going to the site but the truth was, he was supposed to go instead of me because i had already told the general manager about my situation and he said i should rest for the day, but all of a sudden a directive from the CEO, that was unexpected. They know me at my work place with a personality of always availing myself whenever I was call upon, so this guy wanted to use this as an opportunity to give himself free time by using the CEOs name for his scheme.  I was very disturbed by the situation so I toke my phone intending to call and confirm from the general manager because I told him the previous day about my case, but my colleague immediately declined saying there was no need and that how I knew something was up and he later told me everything. He said an emergency came up for him and since I won't be going to work for personal reasons, he didn't know how to approach me and ask that was why he used our boss as an excuse. He explained to me about his emergency and to be fair, I understood with him and assured him that I will go on his behave which he thanked me and left. Though feeling dejected and not having the energy for work that day, I still went because I had given him my words that I will go and going back on my word will mean less of me, because no matter what I own up to my responsibility and actions. I arrived at the site and saw that they had just commenced the work and was progressing smoothly, so I just took some note, make some necessary adjustments and corrections, stayed there for about 4-5 hours and before I left I gave some instructions that was relayed to me from my boss to them and then left the site because I still wasn't feeling comfortable with myself.  Taking responsibility for my decisions and actions, as well as making sacrifices for the benefits of my love one's, giving value to my work regardless of circumstances makes me feel comfortable as a man. It might sound crazy to some of you, but this is just me and I know you all having different things that make you feel like a man or woman as well. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
