# There is no need for a carboncoin or 
climatecoin. 



We can use Steem and the collective intelligence of the steemit community to develop a crowd sourcing platform where we can address the effects of climate change through award of steem to people or organizations who voluntarily offset carbon at grass roots level and provide basic income and therefore tools for fighting climate change. To this end I envision #SteemcarbonCoLab as steem is very mainstream & can effectively tokenize carbon.

# Approach

Steemit community members are invited to submit and comment on proposals outlining ideas or projects for what they did or think should be done about particular effects of climate change. Members create proposals for specific kinds of actions such as generating electric power with fewer emissions or dissemination of a solar powered community or combine ideas from many other proposals to create integrated climate action plans for a community. Evaluation of the entries and pick of most promising proposals & finalists would be the decision of the voting outcome.

# Quantifying Impact and reward 

To keep proposals put in to reality, members can work with generally agreed tools and specialized team of emission modelers to estimate the impact their proposals could have on greenhouse gas emissions. The funding for the proposed problems will come from the result of the votes. SteemcarbonCoLab contests can be conducted in collaboration with NGOs, Local Governments or anyone interested in pursuing a solution.

# Expected Outcome

By constructively engaging a broad range of volunteers, scientists, business people, investors, and concerned citizens, I hope the SteemcarbonCoLab will help to develop, and gain support for, climate change plans that are better than any that would have otherwise been developed.
