Obviously, it is the knowledge of a problem that will point one towards the right direction to solving it. As we have seen ways that their scams can come (like in terms of impersonation, offers that are too good to be true, spoofing, phishing, etc), here will take a look at the measures to employ in order to avoid these scams. We should always remember that it is our exclusive duty to protect our crypto assets from unlawful access. So let us consider ways to avoid the bad actions of crypto scammers.

### 1. Be observant to details

This has helped a lot of people to avoid scams. There are some details that you should not overlook while researching a crypto project to invest in. For example, multiple grammatical and spelling errors should send a warning signal to you. Obviously, a good project should be able to spell-check their writeups before publishing. Also, errors in url should also be a red flag. This is because these might be done on purpose to make it appear to be like the real site's url. So you have to be keen to observe all these details.

Also when downloading a crypto app from either Playstore or app store, you should look out for the reviews of the app before you download. For an app with low star rating or more negative reviews, you should avoid it. Remember that when it comes to safety, it is better to be very cautious than to be sorry.

### 2. Trust your instincts

This may not be talked much about but instincts play a very vital role in preventing scams, but only if you will listen to them. Sometimes, there may be an internal counter that may be triggered about a particular crypto project or coin, this may point out to certain red flags which you should not overlook because it may just be your instincts trying to save you. Anytime you sense that something is off about a crypto project (which can be from inconsistency, errors, etc), you should not proceed with the project.

It is true that instincts cannot be measured and as such, can neither be qualified nor verified, but its potency is still undeniable. Many people have been wrecked because they did not listen to their instincts when it was pointing out to flaws in the crypto project. Each time you go against your instincts, especially during investment or when some little red flags are spotted, it may bring later regrets. Sometimes, when an investment opportunity is brought to someone (maybe by their friend or their family member) and something seems off in it, they may still go ahead and still take it so as not to offend the person, which may be regretted later. Well, in investment, you should take the full responsibility of your actions, and not be influenced by someone else.

### 3. Install antivirus and anti-malware

Some scams are perpetrated by inflicting a system with malware or virus that may sniff into personal details or perform other unauthorized activities. In view of this, it is highly recommended that you install antivirus and update them regularly to keep you safe from these kinds of attacks. The truth is that, no matter how safe you may think you can be, without an antivirus, you are already running at a risk. This is because the technology that some of these scammers use have gone so advanced that you also need something more advanced to wad it off.

### 4. Safeguard your keys and other details

The safety of your private keys, passwords, login details, mnemonics, passphrase, OTPs, etc, lies entirely on your shoulders and you should keep them with utmost safety. Under no circumstances and under no guise should you reveal these details to a third-party except you are ready to grant them access to your assets. You have to note that no wallet service or representative of any crypto service will ask you to divulge your login details or sensitive information to them. If anyone asks you this, it should automatically send a red flag to you to know that the person's intention is not pure.
