Growing A Business From Start - Part 1

Having a very brilliant business idea is good but much more than that, there are things you need to do to sustain the idea. Many people do not find it difficult to start a new business but sustenance and continuity are the major challenges being faced by people. It is worthy to note that for business to thrive, it must be centred on the customer - obviously, customers are the reasons for business.

What are the ways to drive in customers to you business? You will agree with me that the more customers patronize a business, the more profit they will make and the more growth they will see. Here, we will take a look at a few tips to grow a business and we will complete it in the subsequent post.

### 1. Knowing Your Potential Customer

In business, there is always a targeted customer which you should channel your energy on. The truth is, no matter how viable your business is, it will not be universally meant for everyone. This is why creating of niche is very important. If you are to set up a business within school promises for example, you will not focus on selling home appliances but books and other stationaries - this is because your targeted customers are students.

Success in business comes when you identify what your customers or potential customers need and tailoring your products to suit their specific needs. Always remember that a customer you treat well can refer you to other customers and your business will grow. The opposite happens when you dissatisfy a customer. To know what appeals to a customer, it is always good to take feedbacks, this will help you to know where to improve on.

### 2. Retaining Your Existing Customers

Most businesses may not have much difficulty in getting new customers (good marketing and PR can give you that) but how about retaining the customer? Retaining a customer comes when the customer is satisfied with your product. This is why you should be careful to offer the best service you can.

Create a strategy that will enable you to keep and nurture your customers. For example, giving them discount or other benefits on subsequent patronage. Then try as much as you can to keep in touch with them. If after a while and they have not patronized you, it wouldn't hurt a bit to check on them. Remember this "out-of-sight will always lead to out-of-mind".

Be quick to listen to your customers feedback. Even if they do not sound logical, they will appreciate you for giving them listening ears. You have to understand that it is possible to welcome an idea or a complaint without agreeing to it. It takes maturity to understand this. Always try to separate your emotions from your business so that it will not becloud your sense of judgement and weaken your business.
