The reason why actions are taken towards what we believe in is because of the hope of something good coming out from it. If you only have hope in this moment and not in the moments to come, then it is an expression of myopism. Even if your present moment is nothing to be desired, it can still get getter with time and actions. Then if your present moment is good and desired, it can still get better. So we should learn to look ahead.

One of the reasons why life is sustained is because of the hope of tomorrow. If you know that your tomorrow is worth waiting for, then you will not give up on your today. More so, if you know you have a future to feature in, you will be mindful of the actions you take in the present. It is worthy to note that the hope of a glorious tomorrow is sustained by the positive actions of today. That is, if you know the prize that you have fixed your mind to get, you will not give up today. Of course, giving up should be the least thing you should think of when there are other positive things to focus your attention on.

What your hopes are for the future will determine how your actions will be in the present. Take a farmer for example: when his hopes of getting bountiful harvest in the future is high, it will determine the kind of crops he will plant in his farm. Also, because of his hopes of harvest, he will observe the necessary farm practices and will not give up on the farm no matter what happens. What fuels his passion for the farm is his anticipation of harvest. In the same way in life, when you are positive about the future, then you will not give up on the present. You will be surprised the beautiful things the future holds, but it is only attainable if you refuse to quit and if you keep putting in the best of your efforts.

I once read the story of one of the world's renowned presidents. Before he finally won the seat, he contested repeatedly in various capacities and kept failing. The most he could get in all his years of contesting was a second, but he did not give up. Once he failed in an election, in the next election, he would step up to contest for a higher position. I mean, if he could not win a lower seat, what makes him think he would win the higher seat? But he never thought that way - because he never saw impossibilities. He was not deterred by his repeated failure. Finally, he took a shot at the presidency against all odds and amazingly, he won the seat. It was not just a dream coming through, but it was a pure indication that hope is what fuels determination.

The reason why people go through the night without being cracked by the thoughts of darkness is because of the hopes of dawn. If you have a strong belief that tomorrow will definitely be better than today, you will not have an excuse to give up. Believe me, where you are going to is far more important and holds better things than where you are now. Progress is not necessarily measured by other people's standards but by your own standards. That is, if you are better today than you were yesterday, then you have made progress. This reminds me of a verse from the Holy Book as I paraphrase:

> The path of the good person is ordained to shine brighter and better.

It is true that the day may have its own challenges, but it does not rule out the fact that there is still better things ahead. More so, for the fact that there are challenges or problems means that you can and will be able to solve them. There are many beautiful things that you can focus on in life to make you to keep living life and to keep putting in your best. Example; instead of looking at bees as creatures that sting and cause harm, why not look at them as creatures that produce honey? Similarly, how you look at life will determine your response to life and will also determine what you will draw out of life. If you see life in a positive light, you will draw positivity from it. But if you see it as something ladened with problems, it will be problematic for you. So always hope for the best from life.
