Some people have the belief that a lot of things are based on the principle of "as it was in the beginning, so shall it continue now and forever." This is actually the reason they have not moved to effect a change, because you cannot even change what you do not believe can be changed. The truth is that no matter how many times you have continued on an old format or old way of doing things, you may not have a different result from it. So in order to get a different result, you have to chart a new course from the old ways to the new ways.

That something has been done repeatedly in the past does not mean it should continue in the present and it does not mean that there are no better ways of getting the same thing done. There are times that old ways or formats need to be improved on or even discarded in total to make way for the new ways of doing things. Take in the area of delivering messages for example: in the last couple of centuries, sending letters was an uphill task, and it involved delivery methods like birds, etc. But in this era, you can send messages and it will deliver in real-time from the comfort of your device.

Imagine if someone now says that he is only familiar with the old ways of sending messages and decides to use a bird (maybe a raven) to deliver a message to you, you will look at the person as weird. This is to prove to you that methods, formats, process, etc, are only valid for while and as time passes, the validity is also affected. As new trends emerge, so also the demands for new methods become necessary. You will agree with me that you cannot use an analog solution to solve a highly digital problem. So update and flow with the trend.

A few days back, one of my friends behaved in a weird way when she was trying to get something done in an old way. When I saw her, I told her that there are many ways to get it done without following that step. She responded with "but that is how it has always been done right from the time of our parents." Well, it may be highly effective in their own time, but at this point in time and in this era, demands of modern trend may render the format obsolete and as such, you also need to move up to the new ways of doing things. 

In the olden days, many things require extensive manual labour and human physical strength to accomplish. But in this era of technological advancements, many smart systems have been put in place to achieve the same thing with a better result and in lesser time. The truth is that if you are stuck at an old way of doing things whereas there are better ways of getting the same thing done, then it is your fault. With the emergence of advanced technologies, people now have ready access to information and as such, can get better ways of doing things.

It is worthy to note that the result that is gotten is what the world wants to see, not how laborious or difficult the process is. So if you figure out a way to make the process easier and still achieve the same result, then it will be better. This is why, at this point in history, hard work is quickly being replaced by smart work that focuses on the end-result. Take this instance; some centuries ago, if you want to travel to a far place (maybe overseas), you will go with the water transport and you will take weeks to arrive. However in this era, you can get to the same destination with a jet in a matter of hours - same result, different processes.

When you learn to embrace change, then you will move from the old ways of doing things to the new ways. Always remember that processes are affected by the passage of time, and the methods can change over time, so you need to keep yourself abreast with the new ways of getting a task accomplished so that you will not be stuck in the past.
