Nuggets For Moving Your Relationship Forward [Final Part]
<div class="text-justify">

This is the third and final part of the episode we started some days about what people in a relationship should do (or not do) so that their relationship will move forward and be stronger. Remember this; the success or failure of any relationship is not always caused by an external force but by the two parties involved. Let us take a look at some of these tips:

### 1. Acknowledging Errors And Apologizing

There are some people that see apology as an act of weakness. Well, just to let you know, nothing weakens you like the thought of being above errors or above apology. Apologizing when you are wrong is an act of controlled strength and not of weakness. Note this: as humans, you should understand that you are not immune to stepping on your partner's toes, but when you do, do not wait to be reminded to render apology.

When one becomes stingy with apology even in the face of wrongdoings, it can be perceived by the other party as an element of pride and you will agree with me that no one wants to be around someone with pride issues. You do not need to claim to be right at all times or try to impose your errors on something/someone by trading blames, you can always make up by a simple "I am sorry".

Many things that spoil relationships are not big things but the seemingly overlooked things like "I am sorry". When these issues accumulate, the next provocation might just be what might crack the relationship. An adage in Igbo land (Southeast Nigeria) has it that:

> A child may not be rebuked when he spills oil but the next time he spills water

Note: Do not be reminded to apologize before you do so

### 2. Being Open To One's Partner

It is a known fact that trust is what forms the bedrock of a relationship, but on the other hand, trust is not gifted but earned through making yourself trustworthy. One of the ways to create an atmosphere of trust is by being plain and open to your partner. Imagine what will happen if your partner finds out a major secret that you have been hiding from them, you may lose their trust forever and it may crack your relationship.

<center>Image from [Pixabay](https://pixabay.com/photos/whisper-secret-mystery-stealth-408482)</center>

If your partner gets to hear things about you from outsiders first, then your openness is very questionable. When you create a conducive atmosphere that will breed trust, your partner will not be moved for any reason to suspect or doubt you. One wrong move taken can crash years of trust, so you should continue to build trust by being open.

PS: There is no doubt to the fact that relationships vary as well as individuals vary and there is no standardized equation for relationship, but the above points are some general things you should know that can bring gains to relationship.

Hi @samminator
You conclude by saying that there are no recipes for a good relationship, and it is undoubtedly due to the immense variability in human beings.
When we relate we put everything we have learned in life (good and bad) into practice.
Apologizing is one of those great things we all need to learn and practice, and I am particularly hard on that. That's why I try not to do things wrong, but, as humans, I am imperfect, and it's up to me to apologize from time to time.

@samminator ·
I so much love your last statement; of course we are all imperfect and that is why we should not hold back apologies especially when we are wrong.
Thanks for dropping by buddy
