More often than not, what people do or say is a manifestation of the thoughts that go on in their mind. As a matter of fact, from the utterances of someone, you will know the thoughts of the person's heart, because as it is popular said: "the words we speak are from the abundance of what we think." So you see, your dominant words and your dominant actions are determined by your dominant thoughts. If you see someone that has negative thoughts, you will know from their words and their actions because they will be negatively inclined. So to fight negative words and negative actions, you have to start from fighting negative thoughts.

You will agree with me that a pipe cannot dispense both salty water and fresh water at the same time. In the same way, you cannot have a negative thought and expect a positive result from your life. More often than not, negative thoughts come in form of fear. Of course, fear is, most times, irrational and unfounded, but the effects are devastating. What fear does is to stop one from making positive moves towards their goals. When you think that you will not be able to succeed at a particular task, it will show in your actions because you will not put in your best and the zeal will not be there. At the end, the task will be unachievable because you have not given it your best.

However, whenever fear comes in and you counter it with not only positive thoughts but taking positive actions, you will be surprised that your fears were nothing. This is just like dropping a piece of ice on a hot surface, it will not be long and the ice will fizzle away. In the same way, when you take actions against what you fear most, the fear will fizzle away. You will be surprised that the fears that have been tormenting you all these while are only resident in your mentality and are not even real fears. This is why you should not feed your fears by giving attention to it.

To combat negative thought, you have to follow it up immediately with positive thoughts. But it does not stop at positive thoughts, you have to also follow the positive thoughts with positive words and then positive actions. If your fears are trying to tell you that "you cannot," counter it with "I can," and then take immediate steps to show that you can. The truth is that if you allow fear, it will start to grow out of proportion. The best time to fight fear is the moment it starts to creep in because if it is left, then it has the propensity to blow out of proportion.

Another way of keeping negative thoughts in check is to be careful of the kind of friends, acquaintances, and company that you keep. If your company always exhibit negative thoughts, it will not be long and you will trail them in that path. Yes, there is a kind of influence that your friends have over both your thoughts and actions that are undeniable. You should understand that no one mandates you to be friends with anyone, it is only a matter choice. So if you see that your friends are not adding positively to you, or they make you to be tilted towards negativities, then it will do you more good to keep away from such friends.

You will agree with me that if darkness comes at night, you cannot overcome it by doing nothing nor can it be solved by introducing further darkness. The easiest way to go about it and solve the problem is by bringing in light. In the same way, when you are faced with a negative situation, the only way to salvage the situation is by being positive and then acting positively. In conclusion, it is worth noting that the power of both negative and positive thoughts lies in every human but how they use it entirely their responsibility.
