Showing Mercy, Not Revenge
<div class="text-justify">

A lot of people may not know the need of showing mercy to others until they are at the point where they are the ones that are in need of the mercy. When you make an error that is punishable and you were pardoned and shown mercy, you will come to the realisation of how beautiful mercy is. So you see, if we all appreciate mercy to be shown to us, why then can we not show it to others? There are cases where mercy can speak more than revenge.

You should not be quick to revenge against an error that was done to you. Cos, if you try to reverse the scenario that led to the error, you will discover that you may have even done worse than the person. So you have to place mercy ahead of revenge. Revenge against someone that has wronged you will not make it right. After all, placing two wrongs side-by-side does not make it right. There is a popular adage that says:

> An eye for an eye will make everyone blind

Figuratively, what this means is that if you revenge against someone that did you bad, the overall actions (both yours and theirs) will still be bad. Obviously, you cannot solve the problem of darkness by bringing in another degree of darkness, otherwise you will end up having gross darkness. Only the introduction of light provides a valid solution to darkness. In the same way, at a point where people think that you will revenge, you can prove that you are different by allowing mercy to prevail. The truth is, if you do what they did, then you are not any different from them.

Many people may think that it is a right thing to place punishment for acts of offense. Well, yes it may be a right thing to do at the moment, but the question should be "is this a kind thing to do?" Being right and ultimately wrecking your humanity at the end does not worth it. You do not have to prove that you are right at all times even though you may be, sometimes you just need to tilt a bit so that you can be kind. Lessons are not only taught by being vengeful. The truth is that you can actually teach some lessons by showing mercy to others.

It is worthy to note that if mercy is nonexistent and if second chances do not exist, a lot of people; including you; would have been completely finished. Obviously, as long as you are not perfect, you may have stepped on toes before, or crossed boundaries, or erred in one way or the other, but you got pardoned and shown mercy. For the mercies that you have received, it is also human that you show mercy to others too. Someone may not treat you well but reacting negatively to them has only succeeded in placing you in the same level and position with the person.

To prove that you have a better human nature, you have to show example by allowing mercy to go first before justice and judgement. It may surprise you that the supposed enemy that you spared and showed mercy today might be who will save you tomorrow. Always remember that as a friend today may not be a friend tomorrow, an enemy today may not also be an enemy tomorrow. So you see why you should not focus more on offenses but on mercy.
