If you want to use a single stick of broom to sweep the house, you will struggle in vain without achieving anything. In fact, it will become a wasted effort trying to sweep with just a stick of broom. However, if that single stick of broom is paired up with many other sticks to form a bunch, then it will become possible to use it for sweeping and it will produce the desired result. One of the major reasons why some people struggle to get something done without having a way forward in it is because they try to do everything all by themselves without other people's help. Trust me, there are things that can easily be achieved by having a team. This is why I believe that teamwork is a very important determinant of success.

In a teamwork, you may not see each of the individuals' efforts if they stand alone but when they work together, you will begin to see their effects. Take the part of the car for example; if an engine stands alone, it will not achieve anything for you, but when it is working with other parts to form a complete car, then it will become useful. This same thing is applicable to when individuals are working as a team. It is by pulling the strengths of each one that they will even-out the others person's weaknesses. If you are relying on your own ability alone to achieve greatness, you will be limited.

It is true that you have obvious weaknesses, but when you have a team that will complement them, you will discover that success can be achieved. Of course, there are things that will only be possible with a team. We know that a player like Leo Messi is a world class and talented player who has won almost every major title and award in football. But if he stands alone to face a team, even if it is a team of U-17 amateur players, he will not stand a chance against them. This is because he is facing a team with only his individual efforts. When a group of people act together with a common interest, the result is always amazing.

In an organisation, no one can do all the activities alone and expect productivity. This is why each one will have their one function and duty, then they will all work together to achieve a common goal. There are various departments in an organisation, each doing their own duty for the ultimate good of the establishment. When each of the staff pull their efforts together, the result will show for it. No matter how good you are, without a team, you are still very limited.

However, you should know that a team that will work is the one in which everyone is valued and their input is appreciated. That is, you need to value the input of the person to secure it. In fact, it may be the person that you overlook their input that may hold the pivot of the team. Take this instance, in an helicopter, there is a very important nut just under the propeller. The nut looks so small and seemingly insignificant that a lot of people do not even know about its existence. But its function is so fundamental to the working of the entire helicopter. This is also the same thing with a teamwork; do not underestimate anyone's input because they may be the reason behind the significant achievement that is witnessed.

You also need to understand that a team that will work will be one with people of like minds. That you are encouraged to have a team does not mean you should join with anyone you see. If you join someone that is not going to your direction, you will miss your destination. So when having a team, it should be with people that share a common value, have like mind and will propel you forward. Remember that who you company with will become a big determinant of what will accompany you in life. For a broom stick to form a useful bunch, it will team with similar other broomsticks. If you will profit from a team, then they will be people that are positively inclined. So make team with people that will move you forward not take you backwards.
