You may not have had a choice of how you started, but you definitely have a choice of how you will end by your actions. Everyone that is alive today has a common denominator and that is time itself. There is an equal allocation of the gift of time, but how you use your time is your own gift that you give back to nature. No matter your status, your background, your political inclination, your ethnicity and whatnot, there is something that you have equal with others - times.

As times goes by, so are opportunities rolling by. Grabbing opportunities is one of the ways to take advantage of time in your favour. However, it is worthy to note that opportunities may not appear as you had intended it to be, they may not have the tag of "opportunity" affixed to them. Rather, they may look like problems or challenges. It is when you are able to look deeply into the supposed problems that you will see that they are opportunities after all.

Many people may be complaining of lack of opportunities but they are not aware that they are already sitting on an opportunity. Instead of looking at your challenges as problems, it will be a whole lot better to begin to see them as opportunities. When opportunities come, the next step is to take prompt action on them. Just as opportunities are made available to you, you should realise that they are also made available to others, because you are not exclusively the owner of the opportunity until you take advantage of it.

Each time you procrastinate taking an action on opportunity, you are already excluding yourself from partaking of the blessedness of the opportunity. Procrastination has killed more time and more opportunities than you can ever imagine. As a matter of fact, leaving what you should have done today till tomorrow is already an onset of Procrastination and it has obvious consequences. Just like it is said:

> Procrastination murders time and renders opportunities invalid.

Even though you have the same number of seconds in a day with everyone else, you still have a duty to effectively utilise yours to your advantage. Just like in a race, everyone starts at the same time but the finishing time is entirely dependent on each competitor and how much work they are able to put in and how much energy they are willing to expend. In the same way, you obviously will have a common starting point (which is time) but what becomes of your finishing point is entirely up to you.

When it comes to opportunities and of course, to time, it will not wait for anyone. That is, you either join in when it comes or you would have missed out of it. This is why you do not have to wait till an opportunity calls before you get ready. Readiness should be as a lifestyle to you, so that you will be able to cash in on opportunities as they come. You will agree with me that an opportunity that you lose may not present itself in the same fashion again to you, so you do not have to take opportunities carelessly.

Before you complain of the world not being fair to you, take a look at yourself first, and ask if you are utilizing your time and opportunities adequately. The truth is, no matter what the world may think of you, irrespective of your race or whatnot, if you possess the solution to the problems that they face, then they will have no choice than to engage your services. So you see, one of the ways of living ready to take on opportunities is by investing to build yourself. Remember, building yourself makes you to stay relevant.
