Nothing teaches better than experiences. As a matter of fact, the experiences of today are what you need to go to the next phase of your life - tomorrow. It is true that the term "success" is universal, but everyone's definition of it is subjected to their own personal experiences. Take for example, a child that has been crawling for months will see "standing" as a major achievement. A political aspirant that has been contesting for long will see winning the election as a major achievement. You see, an individual's success is basically related to their own experiences.

One of the major problems that face people is that they intentionally tend to cut themselves off from their experiences by living their lives based on the what they feel like or what other people have made them to believe. This is the same reason that many people will repeat the same mistake over and again, because they obviously did not learn anything from their first experience.

If people will learn to relate the lessons of their past experiences to the present day real-life scenario, they will discover that the solution to their problems are staring them in the face. The first (and mostly the riskiest) step gives birth to experiences. The truth is that, even if they did not succeed at it, they would have learnt more than an enough lesson to effectively take the second step. That it, they will not be taking it with zero knowledge but with a wealth of experiences.

Life itself is partly hinged on continuous experiences. What this means is that each day we live, we are constantly gathering experiences and with each interaction we make, we experience other realities about life. This is why you have to be mindful of the kind of interaction you make because it will influence the kind of experience you accumulate, and will ultimately affect how you respond to real life issues. Take for instance, for someone that has had an experience of bee sting, their response to even a housefly will be negatively biased.

Getting experiences is very good but there are some experiences that you do not have to wait until you have experienced it firsthand before you learn from it. Obviously, you can learn from experiences but it is far better to learn from someone else's experience. If you wait until you have tried out a whole lot of things before you learn, then your knowledge will be limited. More so, there are some experiences that are so catastrophic that if they go wrong, they may become fatal.

I remember a particular experiences that a friend related with me. They were working on some electrical connections, when they were done, they thought that they had sealed everything but unknowingly to them that a wire was partly exposed. The first engineer mistakenly placed his hands on the surface and got terrible electric shock but he survived. It was from his own experience that other engineers saw that there were lapses in the connection and fixed it. The other engineers quickly related the experience of the first engineer to avoid a similar reoccurrence. Similarly, in life, you do not wait to experience something personally before you learn, you should always try to learn from others.
