Like I used to say all the time,  education is the best legacy which cannot be overlooked or taken for granted. It's the best gift one can give or hand over to his or her kids. No wonder it's called the best legacy.

Though, there's other legacies which can be left behind by parents, but education is the most reasonable legacy one should endeavor to live behind reason being that, education would always be relevant till the last day of human on earth, but talking about the other legacies, they may not be able to stand the test of time as education.

Having said this about education, I would like to go back to the topic in view properly. The topic which has to do with homework and if it should be abolished or not is a very nice topic which I would like to talk about.

The issue of homework for students or pupil is not a thing of today. In fact, it's been in existence right from the inception of education and I believe that the motive behind it is to help the students or pupils develop on their own without the input of the teacher. Though their parents and  guardians can put them through while doing it at home, it's meant to test the ability of these students on what they have been taught or learnt from school.

Though, in our time, it's called assignment and I could remember how I used to feel disturbed whenever I remembered that I have homework to do. Even though the motive behind it might be for my personal educational development,  one thing is that I detested and hated doing homework. In fact during those times, the entrance of assignments into my thoughts whenever I'm happy or in the midst of celebration used to cut off the joy of the moment.

But, it's after so many years that I got to realize that the essence of homework is for personal and psychological development of the learners. So, when I realized the essence, I was happy the system was not abolished and has not even been abolished.

Like I said earlier, homework is part of our educational system and without it, our educational or learning cycle would not be complete as there would be no room for personal development. Even the research being carried out in the higher institution of learning can be said to be a form of homework. Though, I would call it advanced homework. 

So, abolishing homework would be a disaster to the educational development of a country as there would be no personal development or after school learning or academic engagement again. Also, this would even leave the students idle after their school activities and this is because, ine thing that has been keeping students or kids busy after school is their homework. Had it been there's nothing like homework, these kids would have been like a vagabond roaming down the street after school. Aside from that, they would have been causing their parents troubles, but for the homework that they were being given to do at home, there's always a decorum and decency on their part.

Aside from this, this homework has always helped them to discover their academic strengths and weaknesses and having discovered that, it made it easy for the teacher to come in and fix what needs to be fixed in them. Though, we can say the loads are too much on them, but let me remind us that, that's what is expected of them to do at that point in time, a time is coming that this would be lifted off their head. 

Also, one thing I want us to know is that learning is a continuous process. So, having homework after school should be a testament and a plus to the learning process of a child. Though, the homework too has its disadvantages of not giving more time to the kids to socialize with their friends and family at home. In fact, homework has been a burden to some parents as they would have no choice to assist their wards with the lenghty homework given to them by their ward's teacher, even after they, the parents have worked themselves out at work during the day.

So, my own submission about homework is that, the way and manner it's administered to children should be reconsidered so as not to burdened them.with so much work even after the school hour and also to lessen the workload of the parents after they might work themselves out at their various places of work. So, homework should be simple and succinct as as lengthy as it's used to be atimes.

But as for me, I love the idea of homework and even if homework is abolished in the school, I would still be giving my own kids questions to solve as this would always add to their knowledge.
