The year 2025 is a year full of expectations and all seriousness, but even at that, I have been trying to balance things and make fun out of it. Remember the saying that says, “All work without play, makes Jack a dull boy.” So, for this reason, I have made sure I enjoy and have fun to myself this year.


I have had a series of fun times this year, but the most memorable one is a get-together that took place in the month of the year. At the mention of the word get together,  people would always think it's about school reunion or get together,  but this time around it's not, but church reunion. That sounds funny? Yes, it sounds funny.


It's last December that people came together to organize a reunion/get together program of my formal church. I call it my formal church just because I left the church not because of anything but because of searching for a greener pasture. So, for that reason, I have no option to move from the city where the church is located to another city and in this my new city, there's no branch of the church and this prompted me to go to another church.


So, the same thing that happened to me, happened to others too and this was what triggered the idea of the old members of the church to come together and celebrate God's faithfulness in our lives. Though I called the church a former church, in the real sense of it, it's not a former church because anytime I travelled home, I used to worship at the church.


So, in the month of December last year, the old members of the church came together to select a 5 man planning committee members and in that committee, I was opportuned to be one of them and in fact, I happened to be the chairman of the committee. So, when the committee met in December and had a serious deliberation about the upcoming events, we picked a date in the month of March this year and glory to God,  the day came and God took control of everything. 


So, before the D-day, everything had been put in place and we were all set for the program, and for me to have a stressed free journey down to my town.


I left for my town a day before and I didn't go alone as I traveled home with my lovely wife and my beautiful kids. Seriously, it's a fun-filled journey to my base and our expectations were so high as I personally was eager to meet with my old friends at the church. Not only that, I was eager to see them with the members of their family.


Though the journey was a little bit stressful, guess what? We really enjoyed the trip to Osogbo, the state capital of Osun state. And on getting home, we took our shower, ate what we've prepared from Ibadan and took a rest after a stressful journey back to our base. But in all these, it's a home coming for me after I have left my country home for the past 10 years. 


Then, I left home alone, but now, I'm back home with my wife and kids. What a glorious home coming. 


So, the next day, which was D-day, we woke up as a family and prayed, after which we dressed up and ate our breakfast before setting out for the reunion program.


Getting to the venue of the program which was the church premises,  people were already gathered with their families and there at the events,  the pastor preached about unity in Christ and after the message, the host choir sang a special number. And after that, the program started with interesting programs marking up the occasion. 


It's during the course of the program that people were having discussions and having fun. I too was not left out of the funfilled characterized events.

The most amazing thing was seeing Janet, my one time crush with her husband and kids at the event. Janet who was slim back then had put on weight and I was like, wow! “Janet what have you been eating?” She replied by saying, “I have been enjoying the grace of God.” She later introduced her husband to me and I too introduced my wife and children to her, we then  exchanged our contact numbers. 


The highlight of the event was the giving of awards to those that have been keeping the old members together.  One of those given the award was the pastor. The man of God has really done well to keep everyone members both old and new together. So, for this reason, he was given the grand award. Also, I was given the award for the most active old member of the church. It's really full of fun. The best couple award and the best family award was also given to the mr and mrs Ayantola and the Bernard family respectively. 


Also, I met with other people who were very close to me back in the days. We all took pictures, danced, and wine together. Indeed, the event was a memorable one and we all enjoyed ourselves before the event was brought to a close. Though, we are planning to have another, but we didn't know how soon.


So, after the events, I and my family went back to our country home where we rested our heads for the trip back to Ibadan the following day. “Thank God I came.”  was what came out of the youngest son's mouth.


The event was a memorable one to me and all the participants and it's a reunion indeed as everyone was able to come together and revive the family bond that had once existed through the program that's filled with funfair.
