외계인 손 증후군

뇌량이 절단된 환자의 왼손이 오른손을 방해하는 일화가 등장하는데
이를 외계인 손 증후군이라고 부릅니다.

언급된것처럼 뇌량이 절단된 분리뇌 환자에게서 보통 일어나지만
항상 그런것은 아니고 뇌출혈, 뇌종양, 알츠하이머등
다른 뇌질환이나 부위의 문제로도 발생한다고 합니다.

증상은 etainclub님이 언급한것처럼 자신의 의식에서 한쪽 팔이
벗어나서 지배하에 있는 팔을 방해합니다.
단순히 방해만 하는 경우도 있지만 지배를 벗어난 팔이
자신의 얼굴 등을 공격하거나
사진처럼 목을 조르는 심한 경우도 있다고 합니다.

이 현상을 자신의 주 의식을 가진 뇌와 끊어진 다른 뇌가
일으킨다고 생각했을때 방해의 정도가 다른 것을
반대쪽 뇌가 얼마나 협력적인지로 생각하는 사람도 있습니다.
협력적인 성향이었으면 그다지 방해를 안하는 것이고
비협조적이면 방해하거나 심지어 공격한다는 것이죠.

보통은 좌뇌에 언어중추가 있어서인지 의식이 있는 뇌가
좌뇌로 남으며 따라서 대부분의 경우 지배하는 팔은 오른손이며
지배를 벗어나는 팔은 왼손입니다.
하지만 가끔은 반대로 오른손이 지배에서 벗어나기도 합니다.
이 경우는 우뇌가 우세한 사람일까요?
어디서는 단순히 왼손잡이의 경우라고 하기도 합니다.
