The biggest concern and fear in parents of children with autism is - what will happen to my child when I am gone and who will take care of him or her, in what way and will he or she have the attention and care he or she has learnt on?
Although I hope that in the near future a cure for these children will be found ... the same dilemma always remains ... the hidden, deeply buried subconscious speaks ... and what if they still can't find it ?! And again ... what will happen to my child when I'm gone?
Various images pass through my head ... ridicule of healthy children who have not been taught that exist, less happy children, who are not healthy. The shocked faces of adults if a child with autism screams in a crowded store ... whispering, rolling their eyes, leaning aside as if autism is contagious or, God forbid, that a child with autism will bite them like a pit bull.
All these things children and people with autism and their parents go through, every day ... 7/24 ... 365 days a year. Never relaxed, always prepared to protect your child like a lion. From ridicule, from insults, from humiliation ...
Although they do not show it, they all notice, see and feel. And it hurts them. I have noticed a sad grimace on my child's face several times to some inadequate reactions of "healthy" people, and I know that he has withdrawn. He learnt to deal with that sadness in his own way. We are not always there to protect him in such an exemplary way.
I know that other parents and their children go through the same situations. And that they need to relax somewhere where no one will look at them strangely, where no one will mind if the child screams ... if he cries, if he laughs uncontrollably or repeats one and the same word or sentence for the 200th time.
A dream was born in me. To make a non-profit place, in some beautiful place, in nature ... where they will be able to relax from sight and condemn people, where children will be able to move freely without fear of injury, without cars, in small houses in which will be able to stay and "recharge" the batteries for further battle against the world, against disease, against prejudice ...
