We have gotten to a stage in life where we have to pick our necessities over every other things. If something isn’t necessary, I don’t spend on it

Well written, we love our kids and want the best best for them, but not at the expense of entering debt. It's good the way you differentiate necessities (needs) from wants.

Such a grounded and honest approach to parenting, Teaching kids the value of necessity vs desire is a lifelong gift one that many adults still struggle with, Loved this!

Sounds like a smart way to do it. I don't have kids, so I don't have to worry about that too much.  Just whatever my wife and I want!

This is exactly what my parents taught me growing up. The necessity vs want conversation is so important, my nephews initially pushed back but now they actually come to me asking is this a need or want before requesting things. Teaching them about earning luxury rather than expecting it builds real character.

very good rules. i am also quite the minimalist, but didnt ever really think about it.. till my daughter casually said how i was a minimalist, and i hope she adopts my minimalist ways now.. it makes for a clean looking, clutter free setting. as well as it's cheaper and also less stress, and u end up valueing the stuff u do have much more. 👊😎🤙

It's actually a great thought to look the necessity and then act by classifying the need of the hour. It really good bringing up such values within your family by this the children also understand the importance of various things and most importantly of money.! 
The kind of parenthood which are being in is really nice and effective for your kids to learn and grow well.!

I agree how you handle things... Of course for a parent would be a pleasure to give to children what they want, but reality is made of budget so explain is good... Obviously some thing takes more explaining... As for food, when you are young you don't care for junk food, that comes later 

If parents obey their children in this way, they will be happy, they will also try to become good people, and you are raising them very well. 

Yes as parents is your understanding is superior than that of your children so your guardian is necessarily needed to help them 

That is the main idea, to be able to reach an agreement among all of us as a family, and at the same time teach them to plan their things depending on the budget they can stick to.

True, some kids used to order junk food constantly when they got their phones. Had to set strict limits, they complained then but thank me now. Special meals out feel more meaningful when they're not everyday occurrences.

Critical thinking and discerning between necessity and desires--This practice plants seeds for self-awareness, helping them navigate a world of fleeting wants with discernment. Conspicuous consumption should be avoided. 

Conversations with children and deliberations that teach children that truth emerges through patience and reason, not force. This builds resilience and a willingness to confront uncomfortable realities. Values should not be inculcated in an abstract way, but rather through role modelling as well as through healthy discussion, which makes the growing kid more rational and logical.

It's great that you're teaching your children "minimalist" practices. It's the best age to learn. The things you learn as children are never forgotten.

You're doing a great job.

As a parent, we should have that time to listen to the complains of our children. We have this full responsibility to be able to guild and help our children to the right path.

Kids are very vulnerable to the manner their parents make them see the world. If you make them feel there are something that are impossible to them to purchase because of the financial status, this might be a bait to derail them in the outside world 
So in as much as you don't have the financial capacity to meet some of their needs, we still need wisdom as parents to balance their thinking and make them see possibilities in everything 

you both are a wonderful couple. always keep smiling.
