Ok so, here's the thing, I don't hate dentists. I've been going to the same dentist for about 6 years. And I needed quite a bit of work done, so I was in there about every 6 to 8 weeks getting something done. Crowns, fillings, extractions, root canals, implants, just about everything. I would also like to point out that at no point was I unconscious, I was awake for each procedure. 

So why am I sharing this? Well, to be honest, I have a near paralyzing fear of dental practices. Stepping into a dental office causes me intense anxiety. The smell, the sound, everything about it sets my teeth on edge. This is because of what happened when I was a child. 

So from ages 4 to 10 I lived in southeast Alaska, on an island. The only dental clinic was staffed by a rotating group of dentists who had been sued for malpractice and had to serve community service to get there licenses back. So not the best of care from them. They just wanted to do their time and get back to there own practices. 

So I endured a lot of pain and some permanent damage to both my jaw and a few of my teeth. So yeah, I probably have some mild post traumatic stress due to dental abuse. So I just wanted to share, as a way of working through my pain. Thanks for letting me share.
