**A Savings Mechanism**

Years ago I published an article addressing Bitcoin’s superiority as a savings protocol. This remains relevant today, even more so. [**ETFs and a strategic Bitcoin reserve**](https://sapphirecrypto.org/2024/12/16/will-the-etf-effect-a-trump-presidency-adjust-bitcoins-4-year-cycle/) place Bitcoin in high demand, especially when supplemented by institutional and retail demand. However, I still maintain a favorable view of [**WEB3**](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-web-3-0) and its many expressions regarding creating income. Bitcoin is different in that it exists to preserve wealth.

Bitcoin is for those who have generated income and seek a way to preserve and increase it over time. This is Bitcoin, the modern-day gold, a [**store of value**](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-store-of-value), yet it supersedes gold in multiple arenas. However, we will stick with the term as it is a widely understood comparison, even if somewhat flawed, especially when all of Bitcoin’s advantages are considered.

Bitcoin is a long-term investment vehicle. However, knowledgeable investors who understand its behavior can utilize it effectively over shorter periods. Furthermore, long-term appreciation does have significant benefits compared to [**TradFi**](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-tradfi). However, these returns hold little value for smaller investors. This is where WEB3 offers opportunities that Bitcoin is unable to match.

**Wealth Creation Now Resides In WEB3**

The long and the short is that Bitcoin is now an instrument of wealth preservation and WEB3 is the new realm of wealth creation. A few thousand dollars invested in Bitcoin has limited, yet attractive yields. However, the same amount of capital effectively deployed in WEB3 has a greater chance of providing a more substantial return. Furthermore, many [**WEB3 opportunities**](https://sapphirecrypto.org/2024/05/06/the-tremendous-potential-that-exists-within-hive-other-web3-opportunities/) require zero capital. Effective WEB3 strategies hold enormous potential.

There is however a barrier, and it’s not a barrier to entry, but in the mindset of many [**WEB3 enthusiasts**](https://sapphirecrypto.org/2024/12/10/building-a-web3-income-for-a-web3-future/). In short, they think too small. Have you ever seen those supermarket competitions where a winner has 30 seconds or a minute to put as much in their trolley as a prize? Many WEB3 participants could be compared to a person winning such a prize and only filling the small section near the handle, leaving the trolley empty.

The opportunities are endless yet many impose unnecessary restrictions on themselves, leaving their trolleys empty when the shelves are loaded and within reach. WEB3 will have very little impact apart from maximization. Unless you [**take it seriously**](https://sapphirecrypto.org/2024/12/13/building-in-anticipation-of-the-age-of-intelligence/), your efforts are likely to be disappointing. The potential within WEB3 is not indicative of results. For many, potential remains potential, an untapped resource.

It’s simple! Get stuck in! Gain as much free exposure as possible. This sector is a prime example of amazing opportunities within the WEB3 space. Utilize WEB3 appropriately and you could end up using Bitcoin to preserve your WEB3 harvest. As mentioned, this period will be seen in hindsight as one of the most lucrative opportunities in Crypto.

**Final Thoughts**

The moral of the story is straightforward… build with WEB3 and save with Bitcoin. Risk-averse investors can utilize strategies such as immediately converting [**airdrops**](https://inleo.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-airdrop) and other free Crypto income to BTC. When these earnings are accrued (cyclical) will play an important role in the conversion process. However, the principle remains true… look at creating wealth in WEB3 and then preserve and increase it via a Bitcoin strategy.

Those with a higher risk appetite can exclude Bitcoin and continue deploying capital into alternative WEB3 strategies. The beauty of DePIN is that, in many cases, it requires zero capital allocation.
