Can Positivity Have A Physical Impact on The Body?

<p>If you have read motivational articles or self help articles and even if you have talked to friends and family in times of distress or loss, one common advice that seems to jump out quite often is to stay positive.&nbsp;</p>
<p>It is certainly a good advice. After all, it seems like a no brainer that staying positive in everyday life can help you deal with the many obstacles that life presents, with a broader mindset and also help you live a quality life.&nbsp;</p>
<p>But positivity is also a state of mind, like happiness or sadness and it can’t be forced even if one tries. I mean, if you have just suffered a great loss, and if someone tells you to just “be positive”, you can’t turn on a switch in your head and magically come to a positive state of mind.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Having said that though, we must all endeavour to do so as much as we can because it might not just be a state of mind but something that has a direct effect on your physical body and also your surroundings and even the people around you.&nbsp;</p>
<h1>Masaru Emoto’s Water Experiment&nbsp;</h1>
<p>Masaru Emoto was a Japanese author who is known for his very controversial experiment famously called “The Water Experiment”. In this experiment, he allegedly proves that human thoughts and emotions can change the physical structure of water.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If that confuses you, let me explain what the experiment was all about. In his experiment, Masaru Emoto, exposes glasses of water to certain human emotions in the form of words, pictures or music. He then freezes the water and studies samples from each glass under a microscope.&nbsp;</p>
<p>He concluded that different emotional energies and vibrations affected the water molecules differently which was evident in the way the water molecules arranged themselves into different crystalline structures based on what kind of emotional energies they were being exposed too.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Masaru Emoto believed that water is the basis of life, that it is a blueprint for our reality. Two-thirds of our planet is made of water, our bodies are made of approximately 60% water. So, he believed that our thoughts and feelings can affect our physical bodies and the world in general. He said that we should all be positive so that the world is a better place.&nbsp;</p>
<h1>Criticism</h1>
<p>There are many supporters of Emoto who solemnly believe that our thoughts do affect our reality and in many ways we shape reality with our consciousness. However, this theory of Emoto has received a lot of criticism especially by the scientific community.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Scientists say that the experiment is not scientific and the same cannot be replicated under controlled environments. Some label it as pseudoscience and completely brush it off on that ground. As for the crystalline structures, scientists explain that they are totally random and are not affected by human emotions or thoughts in any way.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Although everyone agrees with the underlying message of being positive and how it can really change the world for the better, most people are not convinced by the direct results of the experiment.&nbsp;</p>
<h1>Personal Opinion</h1>
<p>Personally I neither believe nor not believe in the experiment. There is so much stuff that science cannot explain and it might be just one of those things or it might be that the whole thing is just bogus, who knows?</p>
<p>I just care about the message it is trying to send. Positivity can change the world for the better. Yes, as I have stated above, it is not a switch that we just turn on. There will be bad days and there will be good days. That's just how life is.&nbsp;</p>
<p>But having a favourably positive mindset or outlook towards life is definitely beneficial and we certainly need more of that in the world today, now more than ever.&nbsp;</p>

I keep thinking about these Water Experiments often.    I think of them most often when I taste a first drink of bottled water these days and can taste the plastic.   I actually prefer water housed in glass or ceramic if it must be stored.   The type of ceramic can matter too.   Whatever can keep the water tasting as it does when you first taste it from the source even if you are cupping your hands together to do so.

I also read an article a few months ago that there is some very strange behavior going on with carbon nano tubes and some other structures with regards to water.   I wish I could remember the name and where it is.

It turns out though that out of all molecules we are aware of water has some very interesting and unusual properties.

I haven't experimented with emotions and water myself in any organized fashion yet.    So I don't have good observational data to refute or endorse his experiment.    I do find it interesting.    I also think there COULD be something to it simply due to all the other strange properties that seem unique to water.

You are absolutely right about the water tasting different in plastic containers. That's why ancient people used copper utensils to store water. \

As for the experiment, I have heard from a lot of people that water has memory. I don't know what that means but maybe water really does have some unusual properties that haven't been studied much.
