Today, while I was scrolling down my Instagram feed, I saw a post from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson where I heard him say something along the lines of the title of this post and it really got me thinking. 

We all have different things or people or situations that we take inspiration from to act as a catalyst to move forward, be it in work, or any relationship or any other personal goal one might have. 

I have talked several times about my own inspirations in the past about the likes of Steve Jobs and Elon Musk that really inspire me in my own life in various ways. 

But taking a look at your own past to inspire yourself is something that I had not thought about that much. Of course, I have always looked back to learn from it, but taking inspiration from your past self, is a totally different perspective, one which I think we should all have. 

# Your Past Self - Your Inspiration

One thing is for sure. Nobody's life is perfect and we all have our own difficulties and challenges regularly. We keep overcoming them and that's how we progress through life. That's what we have been doing since our childhood. 

So, when you look at your past self, you are also looking at that courageous and determined fellow that overcame an obstacle that he once thought to be impossible to do so.

In fact, that old self has done it countless times, each time growing into a stronger person and a much wiser one as well. So, when you feel overwhelmed by your current situation, you might want to stop and turn back, and take a look at all those victories you have already had. 

If all else fails, I am sure _that_ won't, to inspire you to keep pushing forward, to remind you that you have it in you to solve anything if you put your heart and soul into it. We are forgetful beings and we just need reminders sometimes. That's all!

# Just A Quick Thought

I was talking about perspective above and I just wanted to talk about that a little. Sometimes we also get overwhelmed by our problems because we lose perspective on how big they really are. 

We all tend to have a default mentality that we've got ton of problems in life but you know what? When you actually sit down and write them down on a piece of paper, you will feel that you actually don't have that many problems that you 'thought' you had. Problems always seem bigger in your head than in reality. 

There is another way to look at this. Most problems in our life are really not that serious. If you compare a problem at hand with the grand scheme of things, they will really start to seem tiny. 

I mean, even the Earth or our galaxy itself, is nothing but a speck of dust on a universal scale. What weight or meaning could a problem possibly have compared to that? I know this doesn't make it go away, but at least it gives you a sense of perspective!
