<html> <p><img src="https://i.imgsafe.org/c4146378ba.jpg" width="571" height="381"/></p> <p>In most sci-fi movies that involve alien beings from other planets, it is shown that they communicate with each other telepathically. Even in some conspiracy theories which claim that aliens have indeed landed on Earth, it is claimed that telepathy is indeed their mode of communication.</p> <p>Whether or not that is true, I don’t know but one thing is for sure. We are continuously venturing into territories which were previously completely out of sight and thought impossible and being able to communicate just using our thoughts is one area which might just become a reality. </p> <p>Just imagine, no longer having to use a laptop or a smartphone or even spoken or written words to get your thoughts to other people. You could just sit there in silence and have the greatest conversational of your life, all without having uttered a word!</p> <p>If this is achieved, this will be a god-like ability where you could send out a thought to anyone on the planet just by thinking and you could do it anytime and anywhere. What would it mean for the world? </p> <h1>Brain Implants</h1> <p><img src="https://i.imgsafe.org/c41481399d.jpg" width="350" height="350"/></p> <p>Although viewed by many as very invasive and potentially risky along with being an “evil plan of the government to control all of humanity”, brain implants are quickly becoming more and more a possible add-on for humans that want to ‘enhance’ their abilities. </p> <p>The future very well might be one where we do merge with the machines to totally create a new type of species. Humanity, as we know it, would be extinct, giving birth to ones that are capable of virtually anything all thanks to technology. Or maybe not, who knows!</p> <p>Brain implants are being touted as tiny devices that can be implanted in the brain that can give it all sorts of capabilities including but not limited to being connected to the internet, using computers just by thought (BCI) and telepathy. </p> <h1>Current Research</h1> <p>Researchers have been performing and testing the telepathic aspect of brain implants in various experiments which involves testing on animals. As usually happens, the most cutting edge tech is tested on animals first before any human trials can begin. </p> <p>In one such study, three monkeys were placed in three different rooms. All these monkeys were connected through individual brain implants. To test whether of not the tech worked, they gave the monkeys a task that could only be completed if they worked together as one. </p> <p>This would prove that the monkeys did in fact communicate with each other from across the three rooms. They had to control a virtual arm on a screen and they could do it only by working together. In the end, they were successful in this task which showed that the monkeys actually synchronised their brains to complete this task. </p> <p>A similar experiment was done on mice where the results were promising too and not only that one experiment even included humans but it was done with the help of EEG caps and not brain implants. </p> <h1>Implications</h1> <p>The implications of this technology will be really huge as it has the potential to change everything. No longer will smartphones and computers be required for the process of simple communications like chats and voice calls. </p> <p>This will simply a whole lot of things. The brain implants would be simply connected to the internet and two people could simply ‘talk’ to each other all in their brains! No phones required, no laptops, no nothing. </p> <p>This has huge implication for disable people as well as they could easily get their thoughts across without having to write or speak. It would also make it very easy for them to operate computers as they would be able to do so with just their brains. </p> <p>Right now a complete all-in-solution is very far off in the future but the idea is here and it is being worked upon. Thanks for posting this. Your post ties into my own where I just posted about extended mind theory. Some of my views on topics of governance and cyborgization may seem strange but it's not strange when you understand the content you just posted about. Extended mind theory is an important concept for protecting the right of the individual. https://youtu.be/VuNgjo-pdeU The theory can be explained by the simple premise that "your smart phone is part of your mind". If you believe this to be correct then it is equivalent to saying the implant in your head is part of your mind. Do you have a right to privacy? A new form of governance that I've been thinking about rests on these two statements being proven true: 1. Telepathy as the future of communication. 2. Extended mind theory is a valid philosophy of the mind. If these two are both true then my ideas for improving governance can take this into account. The idea I've been thinking about is the creation of a decentralized exocortex capability. This new form of governance would be based on enhancing the ability of participants to think and make decisions in the same way a smart phone does. This governance would be digital and if telepathy does happen then it will benefit. I would like to collaborate with you on a series of educational posts.
