Understanding Your Steem VOTING POWER — The Game Health-bar Analogy.

<h3>So by now, you must have heard that your upvote has influence. The influence to increase the value of a post or a comment. And this influence, comes from your Steem Power. The more Steem Power you have, the greater your influence on the earnings of posts or comments, that you vote on.&nbsp;</h3>
<h3>So you might be thinking then, why doesn’t everyone just vote for everyone else and we can all get rich!! Haha! Not so fast! Remember, there is a fixed amount of Steem being mined every day. So, you can’t just make everyone rich in a day and go to your homes and let that be it! No. The Steem that is generated has to be distributed amongst everyone but in a systematic manner. That is where Voting Power steps in.</h3>

<h3>Your Voting Power is your steem power divided by your average upvotes per day. So if you upvote A LOT everyday, your voting power is going to get diluted. It will have lesser and lesser influence. That’s because the Steem Power doesn’t increase by that much per day but your upvotes do! And so the voting power gets lower and lower. You can actually check the percentage of your voting power at www.steemd.com (the format is : www.steemd.com\@yourusername).&nbsp;</h3>

<h3>Let’s take a gaming analogy to make this clearer. Its like playing a first person shooter &nbsp;game. You have a health bar. If you take bullets, your health bar decreases. BUT, if you give it time, the health bar increases!! That’s it! That’s your voting power. If you upvote a lot (take bullets), you will decrease your voting power. But if you stop for a while (say a few hours), it automatically increases.</h3>
