Much has been talked about the nature of our reality. Through observations and experimentations, scientists have tried to figure out just what is the nature of the universe or the reality we exist in.

In our pursuit, we have come to know a lot. But we are still a long way off from making sense of it all. Sometimes, you hear about theories or hypotheses which send you down the rabbit hole.

The same happened to me today when I was watching a video that alluded to the idea that maybe we are inside a video game that is being played by a higher dimensional being.

If you really understand what this entails, it will blow your mind away. In the general hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we don't pay much attention to thoughts like these but it can be a good mental exercise (if nothing else) to ponder about them.

# Life - A Video Game?

So, we all know what video games are, as we have been playing them since our childhood. If you've played an "open-world" game like the GTA series, then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Basically, you control a character and play missions and advance to the next stage of the game. Then there are all these different characters that are just populated in the game world by the computer and are not controlled by anybody.

What if our life or the universe is just a game too? What if each of us is just a random game character and are just doing what we have been programmed to do. Just as the game characters don't know that they are in a game, we wouldn't know that we are in a game too.

This boggles the mind and raises more questions than it answers. For instance, what about free will? If life really is a game, then there is no free will at all because we are either controlled by a player or live according to the rules of the game.
