What It Really Means To Be Happy

<p>Happiness. It’s all we truly want. Behind all our earthly desires, like money, love, and other materialistic wants, we just want to be happy. But what does it mean to be truly happy?</p>
<p>People think that they have to achieve these big goals to become truly happy. Like earning a lot of money or finding the perfect partner or living in the perfect house. They spend their entire lives in the accomplishments of these goals and in the process they lose the very thing they are trying to find. What an irony!</p>
<p>I’m not saying that you shouldn’t pursue these things. By all means, please do! What’s a person without goals. All I am saying is live a little, enjoy the little things in life. Life doesn’t only throw lemons at you, it gives you a lot of little moments of happiness. In today’s fast paced life, we do not even notice them. But it is in these moments that we are honestly and truly happy.</p>

<p>The key to happiness is to appreciate the little moments of happiness.</p>
<p>There is an abundance of happiness everywhere. You just need to look for it. Sometimes you don’t even have to look! You’d be amazed to know that it takes just one single short moment to turn your day around.&nbsp;</p>
<p>People often say that one bad thing happens and their whole day turns bad. The same can apply if you want to have a good one! Just one little thing, and you’re happy the rest of the day. You just need to change your state of mind and notice these things.</p>
<h2>A Baby’s Innocent Smile</h2>
<p>Isn’t it just lovely to see a baby smile at you? That innocent grin that makes you feel that all the worries in the world mean nothing. The feeling of joy and happiness throughout your body in that moment, is what it is like to be absolutely happy, because you are appreciating that moment.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You can’t help but feel that we only have problems because we create them for ourselves and it doesn’t even mean anything!&nbsp;</p>

<p>That innocent smile makes you feel that all the hidden agendas that everyone has is so restricting. It makes you question why we can’t all be just as innocent and pure and why we can’t just be true to ourselves and to others around us.</p>
<h2>Helping a Homeless Person</h2>
<p>Whenever you help a homeless person out, no matter how big or small the help is, you can’t help but feel happy about what you did. You come in touch with your humanity at the most fundamental level and that is what makes you feel nice.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Seeing a smile of relief on that needy person makes you realise that you are the reason for that smile in that moment and it feels great.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Moreover, you can’t help but feel grateful for what you have. We take everything for granted in our lives and only come to realise their value if they are taken away from us. It may be things or people. And seeing someone out in the streets is really a reality check. It is a reminder of how lucky you have been and a reminder that you ought to feel grateful for everything you have.</p>
<h2>A drink with your best friend after a long time</h2>
<p>Have you ever been separated from your best of buddies? You thought that would never happen but life is uncertain and things happen. Work can lead you elsewhere, marriage can do the same and sometimes it might also be a fight that may leave you astray.</p>
<p>And when you finally meet them and hang out or go have a drink, you feel really happy. You feel like you have somebody who completely understands you, probably more than you do yourself and that you can be completely and utterly weird and honest and yourself with them.</p>

<p>That right there is a moment that makes you truly happy. It’s just a drink with a buddy. A seemingly small thing. But notice how good you feel during that time and you’ll know that it is indeed in these small moments that you are truly happy.</p>
<h2>Taking a walk in nature</h2>
<p>The peace, calm and quiet of nature is unmatched. Just taking a 15 minute walk in a park where there is fresh air and peaceful environment, can make you happier. We get in touch with our thoughts and with nature and it one of the most relaxing things to do.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>1. Hitting all the green lights on your way to work (I have the magic Y’all)</em></p>
<p><em>2. Sleeping at home on a rainy day (So soothing..ahhhh)</em></p>
<p><em>3. Time with pets (this kitten is so damn cute!)</em></p>
<p><em>4. Listening to music (shutting off the rest of the world)</em></p>
<p><em>5. Waking up in the middle of the night and realising you have more time to sleep (Hallelujah)</em></p>
<p><em>6. Finding money in the pockets of your pants (Well hello there! Where have you been hiding!)</em></p>
<p><em>7. A smile from a stranger (Good day to you too sir!)</em></p>
<p><em>8. An itch you can reach (Feels so good, that I can’t even…)</em></p>
<p><em>9. Reading a book (Shhh….Sherlock is so close to solving this)</em></p>
<p><em>10. Dancing (Like no one is watching)</em></p>
<p><em>11. Singing (Like no one is listening!)</em></p>
<p><em>12. Meditating (I’m one with everything)</em></p>
<p><em>13. Breakfast in bed (The bed is my friend, I can’t leave it)</em></p>
<p><em>14. Pranking a friend (Haha! Got you sucker!!!)</em></p>
<p><em>15. Finally getting to pee after holding it for a long time (Ahhhhhhh, This is what heaven must feel like)</em></p>

<p>The thing is, life is full of happiness everywhere you go and at all times. It’s just a matter of perspective.</p>
<p>Personal advice: Don’t take life too seriously. You’re not getting out alive anyway! :)</p>
